Black Butte is beautiful. Just went for the first time last night. Here are links to lodging www.blackbutteranch.com or www.blackbuttecabins.com
Hello! I am looking for ideas of locations within 4 hours of Portland to travel to with our 2 year old son and our friends who have a 3 year old boy. Ideally we would have a house rental with bbq and pool or access to a pool. Maybe golfing nearby for dads and spa close by for moms. Any suggestions would be great!

I agree that Sun River is aweseome. Our kids loved it there. Our son was just over one last year when we went and he was able to roam around outside (supervised of course) and explore everything. Our other kids where 3 and 7. Nice thing is that you can find the house that suites you best. Get a bike with a trailer or bring your own and bike every where you want to go. Try to get a home away from the railroad tracks if you have kids or light sleepers. If you go through sunset reality they will work with you and find the perfect home for you. There is an awesome park as well. We love to go during the 4th of July. There is a fun picnic and band that plays on the golf course. NO FIRE WORKS ALLOWED...which I loved. We put the kids to bed and sat out and played games in the wonderful warm air. It is worth looking into.
Best of luck.

Check out Black Butte Ranch. We have gone several times. A great family vacation. Be sure to bring bikes! Beautiful bike trails! There is also golfing, tennis, horseback riding, many pools, etc, etc! Plus, they have a club house. They have daily crafts and organized activities for little ones. Here is a link...

If you decide to rent a house, look online for private rentals. The rentals through the Black Butte Ranch association are much more expensive. All the houses we have ever rented have decks, bbqs, etc. Plus, many times you will see deer walking through the back yards!
Email me with any other questions.
Good luck, hope you find some place you will enjoy!

We just went to Great Wolf Lodge. It's just south of Olympia, kinda spendy, but was so much fun for us and our 4yr old and 2yr old. They have a spa -- golf I'm not sure of, but there must be something in the area.

Eagle Crest in Redmond, about 20-30 minutes outside of Bend, OR. We rented a 2 bedroom condo with my 3 kids last summer for a week and had a blast! There is so much to do on sight, golf, swimming, nightly family activities, etc... I am sure you could google it and get one of the chalets. I have heard about Sunriver and have had friends go there, nothing but nice things. Have fun! I love vacationing with friends. :)
Hi-
I don't have any specific locations for you, but we've used www.vrbo.com for finding a rental vacation home before and we liked it very much. Also, if I could suggest a portable DVD player for the car for traveling with little ones. You might be able to borrow one from a friend or purchase one 50/50 with your friends.
Best wishes, H.
Many of the Central Oregon locations have all that you request. Eagle Crest has great houses for rent, a pool, hot tub, spa services, BBQ, horseback riding and golf. Lost of the Eagle Crest homes are quite reasonably priced. Black Butte is also a good choice.
If you like the coast, there are many, many homes for rent and quite a few golf courses and spas. Usually a pool isn't an option at the coast, but you have the beach. There are some resorts that might work, too.
I would look on Craigslist. Great deals, especially if you book last minute.
Sun River in Bend is a great place for families! We have been there a few times with our 4 1/2 year old twins. You can rent a nice house for all of you. Most of them have hot tubs and bbqs. If you are renting, you can go to the big pool for free! There is a VERY nice golf course, restaurants and the most important thing, a spa for the moms! I have always had a great time when we have gone. There is also an outdoor shopping mall with cute local shops. And if you are lucky, you can do some deer watching from your deck!
One of many resorts in Central Oregon can EASILY fit that bill - try SunRiver, Black Butte or even Eagle Crest.
Or, for some adventures on the Oregon Coast, you can rent a house in Canon Beach (or Seaside) where the boys can go visit the tidepools at Haystack Rock during low tide and see all sorts of sea creatures, including starfish and crabs.
The northern Oregon coast is a great vacation spot and has all of the things that you've mentioned. Seaside and Cannon Beach have grown so much that I don't enjoy them as much as I used to. We go to Rockaway Beach. However I don't think that they have the amenities that you want. I'm sure Lincoln City would and areas north of Seaside. I can't think of the name of the town I've gone to, long, long ago.
I've been to a resort on the Washington side of the Columbia but I can't remember it's name. I think it has everything that you mentioned. It's a popular place and so someone here may remember the name.
I don't know your price range, but there is a nice home for rent on Anderson Island - right on a lake. Go to http://www.vrbo.com/13439. It's owned by Jimmie and Bonnie Taylor. It's about $125/night, has 3 bedrooms and would sleep 6 easy. It's an older home, but met our needs wonderfully. I believe they have golf, but I don't play, so am not sure. If you do give them a buz, let them know B. Rogers referred you.
