Looking for Recommendations for Naturopathic MD in Portland

I'm looking to find a Naturopathic MD who is also knowledgeable in Homeopathic treatments in the Portland area (preferably the east side). I would like them to be personable and good with kids. We are looking at changing the way we do health care for our family from traditional doctors to naturopathic care and my husband is really wanting an actual MD, not just an ND. If you have any recommendations, I would love to hear about them. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I think there are very few MD's out there who are also fully trained and licensed ND's. The training is so vigorous for both, you need alot of cash, or alot of loans and alot of energy and time! There are 2 I know of; Dr Miller - his clinic is on SE 39th, 1/2 block north of Hawthorne. Don't know the name or number of the clinic. There is also Dr Daniel Newman in Vancouver who is both MD, ND and Acupuncturist/Chinese herbs.
Homeopathy is just one aspect of Naturopathic Medicine. I don't know if either of these docs use homeopathy much or not. I have found homeopathy to work really well with my little ones, partly cos it is so easy to give them and so gentle. But it's only effective if prescribed by someone who knows the medicine well. My thinking is that an MD,ND may have so many other tools, they may not know homeopathics as well as an ND. It might be an idea to also seek out an ND that is strong with homeopathy to take them to alongside your physician, at times when you want to try homeopathy first. I would recommend Dr Roman Krupa (ND) at Urban Wellness ###-###-####, www.urbanwellnesspdx.com. Its on the corner of SE 49th and Division. He is a dad of a little one, with another about to arrive and he specialises in pediatrics and homeopathy.
You could also try contacting the Drs offices above to see if they know of any other MD/NDs.

The natural childbirth and family clinic has a great staff. Our current naturopath dr. is there, Dr. Gibbons. The clinic is located out on 102nd and wasco, i'll include the website so you can look. We just had our first son there and will continue to go there with him as he grows. It is a great place and we really like it a lot. The website is: http://www.naturalchildbirthclinic.com/index.php

good luck

Dr. Takac is a herbalist osteopath. So he is an MD and prefers to go with naturalpathic medical advice before regular medical science. I don't have his # right now, but he's on SE 62nd and Division...I think. I really like him and he always takes as much time as needed with patients.

Hey S.! I thought I just had to respond when I saw your request here...I actually read the whole thing before I saw it was you! Anyway, we go to the same clinic the last lady mentioned and I really have enjoyed the care there. The girls really warmed up fast (which is unusual for strangers) to Jen one of the ND's and Dr. Ed did all the ultrasounds for the twins. Anyway, they are ND's so that probably won't help but I thought I would say hi anyway! Love you! J.
