Lake Mohegan, in Fairfield CT witch is about 20 min from where you are. It's great for little kids and family's too
Hi All - Can any of you recommend some places to check out that offer an outdoor pool and/or Swim Lake that I can join with my 5-yr old this summer? I'm a resident of Seymour - so I'm assuming I'd need a place that accepts non-residents for membership. Would like to find a place that is clean and has some sort of an area where my non-swimming 5-yr old can splash about safely when I'm not in the water with him (zero entry or splashyard... something like that.) Also - doesn't have to be the same place - but need to find a good place to get him learn to swim lessons. Any thoughts on either of the above? Thanks much, Kristine

Wolfe Park in Monroe is very nice. Has pool and Lake beach. Many playgrounds. Also has kiddie pool which is hard to find.
The YMCA in Naugatuck has swimming lessons provided as well. As far as I know - to become a member is only $40.00. You can call them and find out :).. Have a safe/fun Summer!
HI C.! Welcome to the area! Check out Wolfe Park in Monroe. They have a pool, kiddie pool, lake with beach and a playground, plus hiking paths tehre. It may be a bit expensive as a non resident, but it's a beautiful place!! good luck and have fun!!
well wolcott, has a nice lake with a slide, and a playground in the shade.
on Woodtick road.
they offer swimming lessons aswell.
I am planning on enrolling my kids this year.

You can take swim lessons at the YMCA (indoor pool though)in Ansonia. Oxford has Jackson's Cove which has a sandy beach and a roped-off swimming area. There are lifeguards on duty and there may be a new playground ready this year. Your son can wear a life vest but not floaties or swim "wings" allowed. I don't know if non-residents of Oxford are allowed there, but you can call Oxford Town Hall to findout.
Quassi is great. They have rides and the beach too. I prefer the beach, as I am not big on the rides. See if they have a deal for summer passes. Go to www.quassi.com
I wish! I've been looking myself for a place near New Haven. I plan to check the responses you receive over time to find out what you find out! :) For a fun day-trip, though, you might want to check out Silver Sands State Park in Milford (beach and park). Pretty and fun. It doesn't fit your criteria, but it's a lot of fun and a very pretty beach.
