Hi, we are stationed here at Schofield for 3 years! 2 months into this crazy island stuff and I'm having a hard time finding people who actually follow through with getting together... Aloha! We're military too, we live in Mililani. I was having trouble meeting people too and finding friends for my 21 month old daughter but I found a great mommy forum www.hawaii.momslikeme.com. I'm going to my first play date on Thursday, you should come! Also, www.hawaiimilitarywives.com is another great site for all military spouses who are stationed here. They get together alot for zoo outings, coffee dates, etc. Both are great sites...warning...they are very addicting! LOL
LOL...well L., welcome to the island. I guess you have heard the saying, "island fever." I myself is from here and this is the fourth time we stationed here. Every time we come back home, it gets worse for me. I guess it finally hit me too after being away in between times...lol. There is an ACS building right across from the Schofield Pool. I believe they have the information of army wives which I know usually have get togethers all the times such as, working out at gyms together while taking turns baby sitting, or I noticed they all group up together for some long morning stroll and walks, etc...I say that will really cheer you up and might get yourself involve in helping out with post activities...lol. But I know there's always a group of moms and children always getting together from morning and late noon sessions having fun and especially the exercises fun...unfortunately, I live at the Aiea stadium side where there is also another big group of moms and children doing the same thing here...try it out and have fun with it. You enjoy it, before you know it, it's time to roll outta heah...lol...take the family for a nice long ride along ocean side and picnic at one of the beaches for breaks and picture taken :). Welcome to the island! I've got a couple of ideas for you.
Call the base chapel to see if they have a MOPS (mothers of preschoolers) group on Schofield. If they don't, Pearl Harbor chapel has a HUGE one and they will be meeting again on the 15th.
More importantly, check out the "international MOMS Club" online and put in your zip code. ( www.momsclub.org ) They will set you up with the chapter nearest you. I'm in the waipahu/pearl city/aiea group and we have a VERY active chapter (usually at least one scheduled activity per day and at least one designated playgroup per week - although MOST activities end up being like playgroups...)
You can also check out the military spouses clubs (although with the other two, I haven't had time for the spouses clubs...)

OMG HEY!!!! Its good to finally see a post from someone who is on thee island. We live in Pearl Harbor and I am a mommy of a 20 month old little girl who really needs a playmate.
