Looking for Places in Dallas (Or Surrounding Areas) to Take Cool Pictures

The Dallas Arboretum is gorgeous this time of year. It is a great place for moms to walk with strollers and for little ones to run along. And sooooo many photo ops! Take a picnic lunch too.

Try to drive all the way around White Rock Lake (near the arboretum). You can get some beautiful shots of the lake with downtown Dallas in the horizon, etc. There are also some good views from Flag Pole Hill, which is just north of the lake.

Las Colinas canal has some cool urban areas. My fiance and I took our engagement pictures there and they turned out really great.

The Botanical Gardens in Dallas or Fort Worth is very nice. There is also Fort Worth water gardens. Galeria Mall has a fun animal themed play place that we had pictures taken of our girls, along with some other interesting places. Also, Sundance square in Fort Worth might make for some nice photos.

Oh, a great place is inside the Gaylord hotel in Grapvine. It is beautiful. It is also a fun place to spend a few hours and try out a new restaurant.

Dallas Blooms is going on until April 12. Lots of pretty flowers! There are water structures - lots of variety. There are also views of White Rock Lake and Downtown Dallas.

There are the longhorn sculptures downtown near Dallas City Hall.

Old City Park (I think it's called Heritage Park or something like that) south of downtown Dallas.

I've lived in Dallas for 31 years, but I've never heard of a place with red brick wall. Maybe it's something new.

Hands down the Dallas Arboretum. Best $95 I've spent is to get a family membership to that place. Right now is the BEST time to go in my opinion. Dallas Blooms---they have hundreds of amazing tulips---they are so beautiful!

the Las Colinas Canal has some beautiful spots to take pictures. Also, there in Las Colinas they have the metal horses and fountains.

There are also fields of bluebonnets that are amazing I have heard. I don't know exactly where to go but here is a recent article.

There will be bluebonnets popping up all over the place so make sure to take pictures of your kids in the bluebonnets.

Flippen Park, in Highland Park, located at the intersection of Alto Loma and Versaille. Watch out for when the azaleas are in bloom, which should be any day now.

Pretty much anywhere you turn downtown has incredible architecture, from the Henry Moore sculpture in front of city hall, to Thanksgiving Square and the Symphony Hall, They are all amazing. The Dallas Museum of Art's distinctive exteriors have been used in international commercials. The West End is full of "red brick walls". Just down from city hall is Founders Plaza and gigantic sculptures of a trail drive that kids love. Water runs through the sculptures so be prepared!
The Katy Trail, White Rock Lake, Dallas Arboretum have beautiful scenery. You can drive to any of the surrounding smaller towns like Granbury to find "cute old towns". Our own "red brick" court house in the heart of downtown Dallas is spectatular. The five year old and 18 month old are going to prefer the Dallas Zoo and the Dallas World Aquarium downtown. The Arboretum has several areas kids will like including Toad Corner where sculptures of giant toads "spit" water. ( take them some extra clothes, you know they will want to run in the water.) There are also a a couple of log cabins there and a teepee etc etc. Heritage Farmstead in Plano is cool and there is the Heritage Village in Dallas.
They would probably like to take a train ride as well. Mockingbird Station is the best bet as it has steep escalator that kids love, to get down to the tracks. Oh and that age range will love the Science Place in Fair Park. It's a perfect place for a rainy day, with an indoor sand pit where they can did for fossils, robot dinosaurs and all sorts of interactive things. We practically lived there when mine where young. Welcome to Dallas!

If your sister comes in the next couple of weeks, it is VERY common to see people pulled over on the side of the highway to take pictures in the Bluebonnets. I know. I moved here about 10 years ago, and it is still weird.

I bet they get pretty pictures though!

I've seen some great pictures that were taken at various places throughout the Gaylord Texan hotel in Grapevine. The only downside is that you will have to pay to park.

Hi there! The Texas picture that everyone eventually takes is laying in the bluebonnets/wildflowers along the highway. Yes, not the most peaceful, but it turns out to be a great photo if you get the lighting right. Basically now is the time to do it while they are in bloom. You can go further south along I-35 to get out of the city to do. Make a day trip to Hillsboro (off I-35 going south) and stop off at the outlet mall there for shopping! Hope that helps....

One of my favorite places for scenery is Dallas Baptist University. They have a pond with a fountain, GORGEOUS landscaping, gazebos, and beautiful architecture. It is just beautiful there. Have fun!

Dallas Arboretum - Hands down is my favorite picture taking place. White Rock Lake, Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens - its free admission. Also there are tons of beautiful parks around the Park Cities.

What your sister is refering to is probably the Old Red Courthouse downtown. In Las Colinas near the Mustangs is the flower clock, it is unusual.
You do need to be careful of the bluebonnets I understand snakes like them too.
