My husband's medical insurance just changed and we are now switching to Kaiser insurance which means that we need to find all new doctors. I am looking for recommendations on a Pediatrician or Family Practice Doctor at one of the Kaiser facilities in Clackamas. I am also going to need to find an OB/GYN, but that is not my first concern.
If anyone uses Kaiser any recommendations you have would be appreciated. We had Kaiser a few years back and were not happy with the doctors we had. It seemed like instead of trying to figure out why we had medical issue they just wanted to put us on medication. The one I am really concern with is that my husband has high blood pressure at 32 and they didn't even try to work with him on diet. Just gave him a pill. Same happened with me and acid reflux which I now attribute to me having huge fibroids that were pushing on my digestive system. I attribute it to this since it showed up right before we discovered them, and since I haven't had any issues with it since I had them removed other than during my pregnancy. They didn't even have me go in for an appointment just prescribed the pills over the phone. I was young and didn't know any better, but now that I have learned about how other doctors work I am very concerned about going back to Kaiser. I tried going on to their website to see if I could find any review or information on their doctors, but couldn't find anything real helpful. So if you have any information on this that will also be a great help.
Thank you so much in advance.

We've been with Kaiser since right before our son was born, a year ago. While I've been happy with the Kaiser experience, NONE of the peds recommended to us were/are taking new patients, including Maria Constein, who was highly recommended. We're with Dr. Hicks at Mt. Scott/Clackamas. She's fine, I suppose, although we only chose her because she had openings in her practice. Good luck. Maybe there's a waiting list for Dr. Constein and others with closed practices.
My daughter is 8 months old now and has been with Dr Maria Constien since birth and we absolutely love her. I read some of the other responses and saw that she is currently not accepting new patients. I would check into a wait list if possible. Her husband is a Family practitioner but I think he is currently not accepting new patients. Both are at Mt Scott.
I initially saw NP Susan Gervasi until I developed complications during my pregnancy and they sent me to an OB/Gyn. Since this was during the Holiday‘s I saw several at Mt Scott. I really liked Dr Angela Burch as well as Dr Alegio (sp?).
Good luck with your search! I recommend getting set up on the website. You can now send non-urgent questions via e-mail straight to your doctor, as well as see some test results and schedule some appointments. I have had them most of my life and I am really impressed by the changes they have made over the last several years.
All of my kids saw Dr Sage at Mt. Scott until recently (we were forced to switch insurance) and she is great! I've had a hard time finding someone under our new insurance that I like as much. She is very thourough and on top of everything! For an ob/gyn I recommend Kelly Riardan (sp?) (midwife) or Dr Algenio - they are very good at what they do and also very personable. When I was having complications with my last pregnancy, Dr A sat with me and cried with me during one of my appts - I felt like she really cared about me! I miss my docs at kaiser and hope you have a good experience this time around! D.
I just went thru the same thing 2 weeks ago. I posted the same type of question and only received a few responses, hopefully you'll get more. The best advice I got was visit kp.org and search for physicians currently accepting new patients. The names that you have been given so far are not names that I recognize as being available. Anyway, I looked thru the available doctors, read their bios, googled them for further info, and jumped in. Although you don't want to rely on the practice, Kaiser allows you to choose a new PCP at any time, so if you aren't happy, you can switch. By the way, I ended up choosing Dr. Jodie Oltmans, my 5 yo has the first appt. in 2 weeks, so I can let you know how it goes.
We see Dr Maria Constein and LOVE her. Actually the whole team at the MT. Scott clinic are great.
For adults, Daniel Constien is great at Mt Scott. Really thorough and not hurried at all. Seems to really listen.
For OBGYN I cannot say enough wonderful things about Betsy Langton who is a CNM at Mt Talbert. She has been with me through all three of my pregnancies and I was lucky enough to have her deliver my second (she happened to be scheduled when I went into labor) and was amazing. We are looking at switching to naturopathic care soon because we feel that would be better for our family so we are also concerned about too many interventions and such, so that gives you an idea of where I'm coming from with my recommendations. Betsy is very pro natural/alternative care though she has to work within the confines of the Kaiser system...she's absolutely great and I miss seeing her!
Good luck!

We have a 19 month old little boy. We have used Dr. Maria Constien as his pediatrician since birth. We have been very pleased with her. She listens to all of our concerns about medicating our son (lots of ear infections) and takes a genuine interest in his health and well-being, as well as that of our own well-being. I would highly recommend her to anyone needing a Kaiser pediatrician.
As far as the Ob/Gyn goes, both my partner and myself use an NP Kaiser, Elizabeth Ross at the Mt. Talber office. She too listens to our concerns and questions, cares about our whole physical well being and does not just put our a prescription without trying to figure out what is going on with you first. Good Luck!
Hi. I have Patricia Campbell at Mt. Scott. I like her a lot. I tried a few Pediatricians there before settling on her. She is extremely attentive and even gave me her cell number one day so she could talk with me about my son's blood work that came back showing a mild iron deficiency- an issue I would normally expect a doctor to just back burner until her next day in the office. She is super helpful. She also had her nurse give me my flu shot so that I wouldn't have to stop at the injection clinic too.
