Hi, I was hoping for some help with this subject... My family is currently with blue shield and see a pediatrician that we LOVE through palo alto med foundation. The problem is child #3 is on the way and it is getting SO expensive. I was wondering if anyone has a pediatricain in the area that they absolutely love and also if someone could tell me how expensive a family plan of 5 at kaiser could be. I'm not sure if they have different plans and deductibles like with blue shield. Obviously I would only switch if it was cheaper and I could find someone else I really trust. Thank you!

I have been with Kaiser for many years and I love my ob/gyn and my son's pedi. We have been going to the Mt.view site for both. My ob/gyn is Dr. Rao and our pedi is Dr. Tuch. The Mt.View office is smaller and a lot more personal which I like. If Dr. Rao (ob/gyn)is full Dr. Forgy or Dr. Aslan are both great too. We have only seen Dr. Johnson once on an urgent visit when Dr. Tuch (pedi) was not in. He was nice. I like my general Practitioner too, Dr. Susan Yang. She is in the new Lawrence Exp. building.
My family has been with Kaiser for about 5 years now. My kids (ages 11 and 4) have an AWESOME pediatrician at the Santa Clara location. Her name is Elizabeth Copeland, and I have been nothing but thrilled with her. Very proactive, friendly, and a mom herself of 2 young children.
Hi A.,
I just read your email. Dr. Michael Taymor on California ave in Palo Alto is very good.My kids both went ot him for a many number of years. He also takes all insurance with the exception of Kaiser. Kaiser for a family of 5 would run you about $350.00 - $400.00 per month. We changed because the company I now work fo provides Kaiser. Good luck!

Hi A., I have had Kaiser since I got pregnant and have been very happy with them. I don’t know what the prices are since we are covered though my husbands work but I do have a pediatrician recommendation, we have Clifford Yee who is the chief resident and LOVE him! Besides the fact he is always so sensitive and sits down and talks with us I love when we walk by in the hall and he recognizes us and says "hi Christopher" to our son (11.5 months) it really makes it more personal and I don’t feel like "just another patient".
Good Luck!
We have been with Dr. Clifford Yee at Santa Clara Kaiser for almost three years. We like all of the Kaiser Pediatricians but Dr. Yee is the best.
We see Dr Joseph in Mountain View kaiser. She is wonderful. The facility is small and not as crowded as Santa Clara. Dr Joseph is very kind and soft spoken. She isn't pushy, but is very informative.
Hi A.-
We are Kaiser members because I could not leave my OBGYN that I have had since I was 13. I know people put down Kaiser a lot but we have had great expereinces with them (emergency room vists, ultrasounds, CATscans etc.) You just have to find the right doctors. Our primary care doctor uses email as well as the phone and I have found that to be a wonderful help. My husband and I have our primary care at Santa Clara.
I have no idea how much Kaiser costs because we get it from my husband's company...I do know it would be the same for us to have Blue Shild from his company also, so they are probably comprable.
I actually like Campbell Kaiser the best for kids. They are small and everybody knows everyone there. We use NP Rimai and we LOVE her. I can't say enough good things about her. We have had great experiences with the other doctors there also. If you go to the Kaiser website you can check out all of the doctor's hompages.
Good luck.
Hi A..
I've been with Kaiser since I was a child 40something years. I now go to the Santa Teresa Kaiser and highly recommend my OB/GYN, Dr. Thomas Lin, and my pediatrician, Dr. Mina Pai. She has been our pediatrician more than 11 years and includes me in every decision for my children without trying to talk me in or out of anything. My coverage has been through parents or employers, so I don't know the cost of a plan. I believe the benefits are great though. I've never paid a penny for anything until this year when my employer chose a co-pay plan, and now I pay $20.00 per visit and $5.00 per prescription for myself. My son was recently hospitalized and we didn't pay a penny. Also, I never paid a penny for any of my pregnancies or deliveries. Besides the benefits, I've found my doctors to be far more knowledgeable, helpful, and personal than any I used outside of Kaiser.
hi i used to do benefits in a small (100) company. at the time Kaiser offered the program to parents, and each of the kids, up to a certain point. after a certain number of kids it was the same flat rate. call them to get the details. we would have an 8month pregnant mom come in and sign up for coverage, and she was taken at 8 months, and if she had a husband and 7 kids they would all be covered for the same price as a family of 5 ?(don't remember the number).
we've been pleased with kaiser santa teresa. i had major surgery there in 06, stayed 4 nights, hyster. that was supposed totake 2 hours, but went 8 1/2. i cant imagine what the bill was!!!!! i took so long b/c of a giant uterus and giant fibroids. if someone had said,'this will take 9 hours''
i would have not done it, b/c i'm a chicken. i had already went enemic for 10 years trying to avaoid it. and my son, now 10 has asthma. we've been to the er a few times. once by ambulance. and in the icu twice. one of the icu stays we went to our the hosp closest to us, not kaiser, and they reimbused w/ no problem, emergency/time critical. the cost to transport him with a nurse cost too much, so they let him stay at icu san jose med center till he was better. a long answer to a short question. R.
I am a Kaiser member through my husband's job so don't know anything about the diffeerent plans. My kids are grown now but we went to the Kaiser-Mountain View clinic on Castro Street. I live in Sunnyvale and the pediatrician my kids saw for years is George Johnson, MD. He also uses email with the parents of his patients. I recommend him highly.
***** 5 stars
We have a wonderful pediatrician at Kaiser Sunnyvale on Lawrence Expressway, Dr. Iris Hanna. She's been great with my daughter, who was adopted and needed many procedures when we came back with her from China. I'm not sure how much the plans cost though. You can check through kaiserpermanente.org.
