What about going to Planned Parenthood to confirm your pregnancy. Then the OBGYNs that are only taking pregnant patients will be able to take you on also.
I know you probably get this a lot, but I'm thinking I may be pregnant (yay!) and am thus looking for someone besides my general care provider. Unfortunately I keep calling up OBGYNs that are not taking patients unless they're already pregnant, so no dice there. My gen provider has been no help in this either, so I'm reaching out.
Anyone got any suggestions for OBGYNs in the Chicago area, primarily around the Jefferson Park area, where I live? I'll be more than happy to go into the city proper as well if there's someone that can't be beat there, but I'd like one close to 'home' as it were. Female docs are preferred, but again, I'll try a male doc if I get a really rave review. Thanks in advance.

If you are healthy your best bet is to find a midwife and have your baby at home or at a birth center. This will give you the BEST chance of having a good birth. Research has shown that birth with a midwife is safer and healthier for you and the baby.

LOVE my midwife--I had the best birth experience and fabulous care!! I switched to her at 12 weeks. She is part of a practice with another great midwife and 4 ob-gyns (which one of my friends ended up seeing, a female doc, and she was happy).

Dr. Stanley Friedell at Northwestern Women's Health. He is great - he delivered my son and everything was just flawless! The practice is at 680 N. LSD, and phone no. is ###-###-####.
Best of luck to you!
Many people don't know that nurse midwives can legally practice in Illinois, and they're a great alternative to an ob/gyn as they tend to be a little more compassionate and hands on. I think some practice at Sweedish Covenant hospital, which would be kind of close to you. So you might want to look into that.

I really liked the practice "The Northwestern Specialists for Women." Dr McMahon was my primary, and I really liked Dr. Salasche. The practice split, so those are the only two I know in the new practice. They are probably further away than you'd like, but it's an all female practice that accepts new patients and parking is cheap at their building.
