I have suffered from depression and anxiety problems for years but this past year it has affected me as a Mother/wife and my everyday living. I don't have health insurance so I am looking for a doctor or clinic to go to, to get the right prescription/cheap prescription for these problems. I don't even know where to begin looking for a place to go.

What can I do next?

You need to speak with someone at Tarrant county MHMR. They can get you set up. ###-###-####. They will do an initial phone assesment, and then send you in the right direction. You may not end up getting the help through them, but they have a lot of resources. Many of those types of medications are now generic, and are extrememly affordable. Good for you for getting the help.

you can get help for your depression and it is great that you are trying. Alot of people are embarassed and hide it and that doesn't help overcome the problem. So first of all good for you. www.mhmrtc.org they will help you. My friend used to go to the one in our hometown and she got her meds for free because she didn't have insurance. Hope this helps and don't let the name scare you!

you can call 211 & ask for information about free clinics in your area. they will give you the numbers & information about them. i would then call the clinic & tell them what services you are looking for as some have restrictions on what kinds of medication they prescribe for.

WOW... there are so many people without health insurance... that's just wild to me that anyone would even DO that...

I honestly don't believe there IS a low cost drug for depression -- even WITH insurance, some of these run upwards of $50 a month... good luck... knowing you need help is the first step and I applaud you for taking it. :) Worst case scenario, go find yourself a REGULAR MD or speak with your OBGYN and just pay the office visit fee, if they recommend medication, get your prescription and stay on top of follow up visits..etc.. even IF they cost you financially...the toll they could take emotionally far outweigh any out of pocket expense
