There are tons of groups in the Jax area. You can sign up on Cafe Mom and look on there. And there are quite a few through Yahoo Groups. What side of town are you on? I could send you specific links if you'd like.
I am a new mother of an 8 week old little girl. I am looking to meet new mothers in the Jacksonville area. So I don't feel so lonely....... Are there any kind of groups that I can attend?

You might try this website: http://www.mops.org/ I have friends that love these playgroups. I've never joined, but it seems like a good organization. There are other playgroups around town, some geared toward specific interests. If you'd like help finding one, feel free to contact me directly. I'm sure I can help you find a nice group.
Take care,
M.
What part of town are you in? There is a group that is Christian based called MOPS (Mother of Preschoolers). I was a member of the one in Ponte Vedra before I went back to work and I loved it! Go to www.mops.org to find a group near your home.
Hi C.. I am part of a fabulous mom's group called Mothers & More. We offer playgroups & mom only activities (when you feel you want a break- and you probably will at some point!).
My son is 2 1/2 years old and I have been a member for almost 2 years now. They were my saving grace when I was ready to pull my hair out =).
Anyways, you can call the local chapter at ###-###-#### or check out www.mothersjax.com to find out more information.
There are lots of mom's groups out there. So if this one doesn't fit your personality check out some of the free local publications and they usually have them listed.
Good Luck!!

I don't belong to any playgroup right now, but I know if you go to jax4kids.com that you'll be able to find your way to local playgroups. There's a link for playgroups on the left side of the screen. There are a ton of different ones to choose from. Good luck.
Hi. I am in the jacksonville area. I have an 18 month old daughter. I just moved here from japan and currently looking for friends. I do go to church and you are more than welcome to join me.
Hi C.,
I had been in Jax about 4 years and, while I knew a few people, didn't really know enough to spend any time with. Being that I am a mom and work full-time and am more of a "spur of the moment" type person (as opposed to scheduling every hour of every day), wasn't really wanting to do the "mommy group" or "play group" thing (not that there is ANYTHING wrong with those...just not my thing). I started doing candle parties, both as a way to make some extra money and meet new people. In the past year and a half, I've met some of my absolute best friends in the area and have met hundreds of women, while at the same time making some extra money and working toward making that my "day job". I know it's not for everyone, but if it's something you would be interested in more info on, please let me know. There is no cost to get started.

Hello C., I was wondering if you went to church? I attend Island View Baptist on 17/Loring. We are a very laid back church with an excellent Sunday School Class for new families. We all get together and do things outside of church as well. We would love to have you join us. I have an 8 month old baby girl so that would be really cool for us to get together as well. Hope to see ya soon.
