Looking for In-home Day Care near Allen, TX

I am about to give birth to my first child around 7/1/11. Right now I work part time but I have a feeling I will have to start working full time for quite a few reasons after the baby is born. My husband and I aren't too sure how our schedules will be but he has a really good setup where he works and he is able to get home by 2:30-2:45 at least on Mondays and Wednesdays for sure each week and we are going to see if he needs to make it more frequent once I start working full time. That being said, we have NO IDEA what to do with the baby. We can't afford a true 'nanny' that stays in the house but we don't want to have the baby stay in a traditional day care either (too many kids and not enough attention for a little bitty baby). So we've thought about looking for someone that has a day care out of their home that is reputable but honestly I'm scared to death! We don't know how you find one and if their going to hurt your child! How do you find those people? Is there a website that lists in-home child care? Does anyone know someone that has done this in the Allen, TX area and had great luck? It's such a huge decission! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

What can I do next?

I don't have any recommendations, but I just googled Texas Daycare Providers and it led me to the DFPS website. It will go over all licensed daycare providers both in-home and centers. I haven't used it in 3 years, but it should tell you if their license is current, if they have any violations and what violations they are. It's a good place to start to get some ideas.

I know it is difficult to find the right person to watch your child. That was my concern when my daughter was born 7 yrs ago. We tried a daycare center, but she was always sick. I love children and have worked with all age groups at my church nursery. My husband and I were very comfortable with the idea of me keeping children in our home. It has been wonderful. I have been able to care for several different families over the past 6 yrs. Some of which were siblings. I'm very comfortable with premies as well. I have continued caring for children at my church and have been the lead teacher in each age group over the past 10 yrs and I also help with the check in desk which oversees the whole nursery. I live in McKinney very close to 121 and Stacy Rd. I would love to care for your child when you are ready. I have many happy mothers that I know would give you a testimony of my great care. If you would like to contact me please call ###-###-####. My name is M..

Check out Care.com, when my dad was in his final days, we had to have someone help with him. I found this website and was able to find a few people that we felt we could pick from. Of course, he was able to talk and tell us who he liked, but if all else fails this may help. The other website that was provided also sounds like a great place to look since they are registered... Good Luck and congratulations on the new baby!

Check this website out, http://www.pickofnorthtexas.com. I am an in home registered daycare provider in Allen. I belong to this association and all of our providers are with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. We are checked out by the state and have guidelines that we have to follow. If your child is in daycare for at least 6 hours a day, with me that is a full day. I will be glad to help you out with any questions that you might have. Good Luck!

I used a lady in Murphy for over a yr who runs a home day care and did a great job. She had all the certification and I never had any issues with her.She lives in a very nice neighborhood and has an immaculate house. All the children that were there when my son went were very young (3 and under maybe) but that was great bc he wasnt learning bad stuff from older kids. She also worked on potty training with us and was a great help. My son loved to go and had a great time. I took him out right before he turned 2 bc I was having another baby and wouldnt be working anymore. She has been doing this for yrs and is good at it. Her name is Licia Robles and she is liscenced and registered with the state. Cant find her Number but I will try to get it f your interested
