Hi E.,
Good for you for wanting to give your little guy a healthy start in life!!
My thing is all about making healthier food choices because the food choices we make today determine the diseases, or not, we develop tomorrow! I wish I would have known then what I do now about the health effects of the chemicals in our food or our food like products we put in our mouth. True food, in my opinion is made by God and nature.
As a wellness educator I try to teach the benefits of eating real, whole food. BUT I often hear that people don't know how to cook, don't have time to cook, or if they do, they just want something easy like you asked. But again, most of the quick, easy dishes are usually full of packaged processed foods full of chemicals and not really very nutritious.
I've actually been working with a local chef in developing some quick, easy, family friendly, HEALTHY cooking classes and recipes. I'd be happy to include you next time we have one. I also just recently discovered Wildtree Foods and Herbs.
I don't have an official website yet, but if you check out www.wildtree.com you can read about the products. In a nutshell, the products were developed by a single working mom several years ago whose kids had food allergies and sensitivities. She found looking for chemical free/additive free foods was challenging at best so she just started playing with herbs and spices and now has developed a whole product line of "convenience" foods that are great! I recently turned a fiend/neighbor on to them because she is recovering from breast cancer and now is more aware of the health benefits of fresh whole foods but doesn't like to "cook." She says the wildtree foods are huge in her house because she "cooks" but it's quick, easy and good. Both teens in her house love it!
Anyway, I'm bad at not really following recipes but I can tell you how I roast some veges and a couple of crockpot things I do. Just remember fresh is best!
In good health,
Lori
