J.B.
I met with Dr. Widjaja today (was seeing Dr. Curtis previously) and wasn't impressed. My daughter was going for a sick visit but he assumed she was there for a well-visit and immediately started talking about vaccines and such. We did not go into details about it since I corrected him and told him we were there for a sick visit instead. BUT, I wasn't convinced initially that he'd be so open to an alternative vaccine schedule, like I've been doing for my daughter.
My main concern is that I then asked him about doing an exam on my newborn 24 hours after birth since I plan to deliver at a birthing center. He must've told me 6 times "I strongly recommend you have your baby in the hospital." I didn't ask him for his opinion on the matter - I just wanted to give him a "heads-up" about the newborn exam but he was pretty hesitant and unwilling to do it for me. It is my 4th child and I am an educated mother, but I found it silly that he wouldn't be willing to do an exam just because I wasn't planning to deliver at the hospital.
I'm on a search for a new Pediatrician as well, but it seems that none of the good ones ever take HMOs. ;(
