I have a 4 month old daughter and need to find either a nanny or a daycare within the next couple weeks. Can anyone recommend any or give me some pointers on where to start researching. I am very leery of leaving her with people I don't know, but I am a single mom and I have to work. I live in the Glendale Heights area and cost may be an issue. Also, if anyone can tell me for sure if her father is responsible for half the cost of daycare in the state of Illinois?

What can I do next?

"How do child care costs get factored in?

The cost of child care can likewise be apportioned between the parents. Because child care costs are incurred so that a parent is able to earn income, it means that a greater amount of combined income is available for the support of the child. Since both parents benefit from the cost of child care, this cost is divided between the parents (usually 50% each). The parent who actually pays the child care expense receives payment from the other parent."

Also, if you are at a licensed daycare I think you can put it on your taxes. I know I used to. Not sure if the law is the same.

Hello K.-
FYI - I plan on posting this information on the entire board. My sitter lives in Glendale Heights, just blocks away from North Ave. Rt 64 from Glen Ellyn & Main street. When I read your posting it was just too much of a coincidence. My sitter is awesome and has been sitting my daughter who is now 13 months old since she was 3 months. My daughter just loves her. The sitter speaks only Spanish but knows some English. What I love about her is that she is truly a good mother which shows in the way she takes care of my daughter, almost like a grandmother. She is very reliable and loves kids. I too was scared to leave my daughter with just anyone. So what I did was visit the sitter before I left my daughter and almost everyday my daughter doesn't want to leave the sitters house, she is so comfortable there. I used to worry and my husband and I are worry free. She currently only watches my daughter as her other 2 kids she used to watch are either going to school or do not require a sitter, so she has openings. She watches my daughter M - F . If you are interested, you can email me at ____@____.com. I don't get a discuount or anything just trying to pass along the opening at my sitters request.
