Hello Ladies,
I am on the hunt for a good preschool in the Lexington, KY area. Any recommendations?
Thanks for the help!

Hi L.,
Good or bad, there are waiting lists for them all. Good luck.

There are some very good Montessori preschools, but they tend to fill up a year or two in advance.
I really like Porter Memorial Baptist Preschool. My oldest son went there for their 3 yr.old program and preschool and this year my youngest will start there in the 3 yr.old program. I found that the curriculum they used really prepared my son for kindergarten.
My kids both attended Trinity Hill preschool at Trinity Hill Methodist Church on Tates Creek Rd. Fantastic program with small class sizes and a lot of individual attention. My kids were more than prepared for Kindergarten.
Hi L.,
I can tell you this: I used to work at Southern Hills UMC in 2003 and 2004, and it was not a place I would EVER leave my child now that I am a mother. What went on behind the scenes there made me extremely uncomfortable, and they were reported to the state several times while I worked there. It might have changed since that was several years ago, but if you go with that preschool/daycare I would investigate it very carefully. Ask how often your child is allowed to drink during the day if they are in diapers, make sure there is a sink actually in the diaper changing area, show up at random times to check the child/teacher ratio, and pay attention to what they eat for snacks. Often it was donuts or pop tarts with kool-aide type juice at least three days of the week!
I also worked at Faith Lutheran Church on Tates Creek Road in 2005. I loved their preschool program! They have since gotten a new director, but I think most of the long time teachers still work there. http://www.faithlutheranchurch.com/index.php?pid=childcare
Hi L.!
My son goes to Southern Acres Christian Learning Center (preschool for ages 2-5). It's amazing!! It is affiliated with Southern Acres Christian Church (off Tiverton). My son has learned soooo much and has made a lot of great friends! The only bad thing is that you might have to be on a waiting list due to it being a limited number of children. It is a fairly small group, with a lot of individual attention. I hope your girls can get enrolled! Good Luck!!
I think the SHELL program at Southern Hills United Methodist church on harrodsburg rd. is fantastic. There are two wonderful teachers, and an excellent aide. The ladies have been there forever. SHELL stands for Southern Hills Early Learning Lab. I would definitely inquire.
My granddaughters attended Beaumont Learning Center. It's located at 1070 Lane Allen Rd, and is housed in the Beaumont Presbyterian Church (near The Lexington School). You will need to contact them about openings and schedule, phone ###-###-####. School starts next week--the 14th, I think.
Good luck.

Any of the churches offer good Parents Day out Programs which still teach but are usually 2 days a week. Porter Memorial and Southland have pre-school programs which offer more days a week, but fill up fast. I used to teach at Southern Acres so if you have any other questions, feel free to contact me. ____@____.com
Hi L. - my son is 3 1/2 and he attends Park Early Childhood Center (it is at the Park Methodist Church at the corner of High & Clay Streets - corner of Woodland Park). He has been going there since he was 18 months old & loves it! We have been very pleased. The director's name is Margaret and their number is ###-###-####. Let me know if you have any questions & good luck!
