Looking for Good Daycare in Lawrence ASAP

I am moving to Lawrence to attend KU and am new to the area. I have two children ages two and three. I am nervous about finding new daycare because my children have gone to the same daycare their whole lives. I am looking for any recommendations or good references. If you have a good daycare or know of a good one with openings, please let me know. I am looking to move next week and will need to have childcare beginning on January 16, 2007. I appreciate any input.

What can I do next?

Oh, oh, oh!!!!

I have to tell you about Montessori Children's House of Lawrence!! It's on University near Iowa, and they have very competitive rates. Kids can start at 30 months (not a day before, by law) and they have full or half days. Jane, Anna, and Irma (and all of the other help) are simply the best thing to happen to our girls.

The school is true Montessori, meaning it teaches in a specific method that is lead by the child's own curiosity. Our girls learned to read before they were 5, are in gifted, and we credit MCHL with every bit of the nurturing they got there.

Even if you can only get one kid in, you should, and then get the other in when able. The time ours spent there will benefit them throughout their lives.

Cheers!

I know KU has a daycare, believe it is Hilltop but they may have quite a waiting list. Most of the daycares in town have waiting list. My son attended Children's Learning Center from 3 weeks- 8 years old. We never had any problems with them at all...and he will still be going back their again this summer. They are on Michigan St. Either of those daycares I have heard are pretty good. Good luck with the move!
