Hi Mamas,

Our family just moved to the area a couple weeks ago from Philadelphia. I'm trying to find some groups or activities for me and my 18 month old son. I a SAHM and I don't know anyone and I don't really know where anything is yet. I'm looking for something that we BOTH can enjoy that isn't too expensive (or far away)! Some interaction with other adults would be great!!! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated - thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks ladies! I guess I should have mentioned that we are in the Union City/College Park area. I've been checking out the website mentioned and I also found The Little Gym just down the road from me so I'll look into all of my options. I see the closest YMCA is in Fayetteville so we'll head over there and see what they have to offer also. We will definitely be going to all the museums, parks, zoos and aquariums I can find - I love that stuff too (maybe more than my son)!! Thanks again for your responses, I appreciate it!! God Bless!

I need to know where you are in the Atlanta area, but if you're intown, you are welcome to join the Grant Park Parent's Network -even if you don't live in Grant Park. We have playgroups for every age child and there are several activities during the year for the entire group. Go to www.grantparkparents.org for more info. I know there are lots of parent groups and playgroups around town in other neighborhoods too.

Other places that are fun for 18 month olds -The IMAGINE IT Children's Museum downtown near World of Coke and The Aquarium; The Aquarium, the zoo, The Little Jumping Bean or Monkey Joe's (inflatable play places), Peachtree Dekalb Airport's playground -right by the runways off Clairmont Road -the children can watch the private planes take off and land.

I was a recent transplant from Philly and I just recently moved back to Philly. Where in Atlanta are you? I definitly met some great moms in the Decatur and candler park area which are both inside the perimeter. It was a tough transition at first but I really grew to love Atlanta.

It depends on what part of the city you're in, but we have a mom's group in Newnan (just southwest of the airport).
