Looking for FULL DAY PreSchool Around Royal Oak, Troy, Madison Heights, Ferndale

Hi Everyone -

I've been on the hunt for a full day preschool program for my son. Most of the preschool programs I have found are either morning or afternoon sessions, but not both and the times are not conducive to my work schedule. As a full time working mother, it is difficult to rely on someone to drop my son off in the morning and pick him up mid-day, only to then have to ask them (or someone else) to watch him until I arrive home from work. Does anyone have their children enrolled in full day preschool (not a day care center, but an actual preschool)? Or, does anyone have recommendations on where I can begin my search. I am looking in areas around my home and/or work, including: Ferndale, Royal Oak, Madison Heights, Troy, Sterling Heights or Rochester. I’m open to all options right now and, although I am not seeking to enroll my son in a “day care center,” I would be willing to consider an in home preschool program as well as long as there is some sort of structure. Any ideas or suggestions from other parents out there would be greatly appreciated!

Troy school district offers a variety of preschool options.
I have my children enrolled in P.A.L.S. which is a half day, but they also have Building Blocks which is from 8:15am-3:15pm and T.O.T.S. which is from 7am-6pm.
I have only heard wonderful things about all of their programs!
For general info : http://niles.troy.k12.mi.us/preschool.html
And Specifics about T.O.T.S. : http://niles.troy.k12.mi.us/docs/Tots%20of%20Troy%20Schoo...

Good Luck!

Hello, I have found care.com a great tool for finding a nanny/Babysitter. There is thousands of choices for you to look at all ranges and pay. It might be a great option for you vs daycare setting. Worth checking out. Good luck and I know how hard it is to find care you need~

My twin boys attend the T.O.T.S preschool, run through the Troy School District (someone else mentioned it below). They started last fall, and will be attending again this year. I am very happy with the program and would recommend it. Teachers are highly educated and have decades of experience. My husband and I both work full-time, and they run the program with working parents in mind. The hours are very flexible, open 7:00am to 6:00pm for 1 price (no "extra" fees for after 3:30pm care like other schools).

Please feel free to send me a note if you would like any more details, or a more personnal recommendation. I would be happy to tell you anything that would help.

I looked at many other preschols in the Troy area last year (Japhet, Brookfield, Schoolhouse, etc.), so if there is any other advice I can provide on other schools, I would be happy to do that as well.

My son goes to Children's Choice Learning Center in Rochester and we LOVE it. He has been there since he was 4 months old. It *is* a "daycare" center BUT it is very focused on learning and they have VERY structured preschool programs. Even at my son's age (19 months) they have a book they focus on each week, related art projects and activities, letters/numbers, circle time, etc. etc. I do really feel that he is in a preschool environment.

They have classrooms for each age group, and they truly do teach at all levels. Their preschool classrooms are phenomenal, and every teacher my son has had has been just wonderful -- caring, etc. The teachers there are treated better than at other centers (they get healthcare, etc.) so they are able to get a higher caliber of teacher. The lead teacher in each room holds a degree in early childhood education. Their hours are 6:30-6:30 (I think... not sure about the closing time) and you pay the same price whether you drop off at 6:30 a.m. or 8:30 a.m. -- full day is full day. Food is included, so you don't need to pack lunches or anything.

Seriously, I cannot say enough good things about this place.

I would second (or third :)) the Troy School District programs - my MIL used to work there and it was a great place. She now cares for my daughter and you would not believe all the wonderful educational things she does with her, much of it practiced at the preschool.

Berkley Building Blocks through Berkley Schools offers full day preschool at Tyndall Center (which is actually located just south of 11 mile in Oak Park but owned and run by Berkley Schools). It's both a daycare and preschool - my daughter has been going there since she was 3 months old and is now 4 years old and in the preschool program. They have both a 3/4 year old combined classroom and a 4 year olds only classroom. A great place to look is on the State of Michigan's licensing website for daycares (which often goes up to preschool aged for full day).
