Looking for a Public Preschool for My Son in Troy, Mi

They have 3 different programs that range from part-time, to full-time with extended care. I have heard very good things about all of them (PALS, TOTS, and Building Blocks). My 3 year old twin boys are signed-up to start TOTS at Niles this year. I believe there are still openings this year.

Others have also mentioned the Troy co-op preschool. I have also heard good things about that program, but did not look into it or visit myself.

I also live in Troy. You have 3 options through Troy Schools. TOTS, PAL, and Building Blocks. If you are looking for traditional half day 3 days a week preschool its PAL and its at Martell, Niles, Hill and Wass Elem schools.

that is not silly at all. these decisions are very important and you can never have too much information. i would google troy michigan public schools and see what the district website has. you may also find info if you google the city of troy michigan. my son goes to a private school in bloomfield. another bloomfield resource is www.discoverBHS.org.

Try Troy Athens pre-school. It is at the high school, and it is 3 days a week for a few hours a day. The teachers are terrific, and the high school students are the "student teachers," who are interested in one day becoming educators themselves. The program is very inexpensive (approx $300 for the year), safe, fun, and provides the children with a lot of socialization. I highly reccomend it. It starts later than other pre-schools, because they have to get the high schoolers up to speed, but if you are at home with your kids, than it shouldn't be a problem. You could do a couple things. Ask a neighbor. Call Troy Public school systems (I am sure they are listed).
Troy Administrative offices. Even if you drive BY an elementary school they might have a phone number outside their school on the marquee "New students call this number to register" (they do in my area).

Hi Jenny - you could look up Troy Public Schools on the internet and see which local elementary schools are nearby then simply call a school and find out if you are in the right area. Alternatively, are there any small children in your neighborhood. If there are, just go and ask their parents what the local school is. Good luck - Alison

I teach the Parent-Tot Class at the Troy Co-op Preschool and I love it! My son will be in the 3 year old class this fall. It's a great atmosphere and a great place to learn. I've met so many other mommy friends that have become like extended family!

There are still spots available for the PM sessions or you could get on the waitlist for an AM spot. There's a parent orientation the first week of September that you could also attend. If you check out the website there's contact information. www.troycooppreschool.com

We moved as well a couple of months ago, so we found the Troy Co-op Preschool, which looks great for my son Erik. Their website is- www.troycooppreschool.com
The registration period was in March, so I would contact them asap as school is starting in a few weeks to see if there are any opening left. Maybe in the afternoon? That's when my son is going. Is your preschooler a boy or girl? Not that it matters that much. What about your other child? It might be fun to get together and let the kids play. *C. As well as troy co-op preschool there is also St Stephens co-op preschool on Adams road in Troy based in St Stephens church. They did a great job with my twins and were a much better price than anywhere else I could find. drop by the church for details and good luck....I know they usually have a couple of spare places each year but their class size is usually pretty small so there is LOTS of one on one time with each kid.

Look on the Troy public school website or call the school district and ask...you may be too late. Those programs fill up QUICKLY.

You can also go on the State of Michigan website for daycares...and search by your zip code...preschools are required to be licensed, so they will be on there as well.

I enrolled our boys in a co-op preschool in Rochester. There is one very similar to it at the United Methodist Church in Troy on LIvernois. It used to be my church before we moved to Rochester. Co-op preschool's are great to work every so often in the classroom and see how your child is doing. They are also very reasonable for price. Good luck on your search..

My three oldest attended the Troy public schools pre-school program. Try that first because it will probably be most geographically convenient for you. It's an excellent program. I don't know what the demand is now, but if they're full, I sent my youngest to Beautiful Savior Early Learning Center (on Adams Road between Long Lake and Square Lake.) It's right across the street from the co-op pre-school others recommended - in case a co-op doesn't fit into your schedule.) Beautiful Savior has a wonderful program and they're very flexible (you can choose which days of the week and pretty much drop off and pick up when you want.) Dawn Weise is the director, ###-###-####. Tell her Reese's mom sent you. :0) Reese attended for two years and is more than ready to begin kindergarten next month.
