I just moved to town a few weeks ago, and I'm having trouble getting plugged in. I came from East TN, and we had an AMAZING mom's group!!! I would like something that would give me real friendships with people, and similar aged kids.

What can I do next?

I attend Central Church on Winchester & it has an amazing Women's Ministry. We also have some Mom's groups that meet on a regular basis and while I'm not part of those groups because my kids are older, I've always heard such wonderful things about them. Here is the link to our church www.centralchurch.com Click Ministries then Women. You'll see the Mom's links there.

We moved here from Texas a little over a year ago so I know what you mean about wanting to plug in. My husband and I and our children love this church & it has made our move so much easier. I attend a Women's Bible Study on Thursday morning and we have just started a study by Beth Moore called Stepping Up. We do provide childcare (I don't think there's a charge, but I'm not 100% sure about that) and we'd love to have you. Information is on the website.

It's been a long time since I belonged to a church with such a passionate Women's Ministry & I realized how much I'd missed it.

Hope you get settled in here soon. Despite the news, it really is a nice place to live.

I have been involved with MOPS - mothers of preschoolers for a few years. There are several groups all over town. You can access the MOPS website and there is a place that will ask for your zip code and can tell you where there is one close to you!
Good luck!

I highly recommend Gene Stockdales moms ministry. It is available at Bellvue and at Collierville First Baptist. You are put into groups based on your childrens age.

Have you found a church home yet? We go to Christ United Methodist. There are alot of activities there for women (with childcare provided) during the week. There is even a group called MOPS (Mothers of Pre-schoolers) that you could look into joining. I work, so I don't get to go that often, but I'm sure you could find something there that you would like to do...here is the website:

I live in MS, but we have been involved in the Mother's Day Out ministry at First Evangelical Church in Memphis for five years. I actually work there, and that is my support group, but I also know that the moms who bring their kids really seem to have a connection that stretches into their personal lives. Praying for you to find the group that fits you!

There is a MOPS group in East Memphis(Mothers Of PreschoolerS? not sure of the acronym,) I've never participated in it though. Last I heard they were meeting at Christ United Methodist church, located on Poplar near Perkins. Definitely google it.

If you are still breastfeeding or expecting, La Leche League of Memphis meets the 1st Thrusday of each month at St. John's Episcopal church, on Central at Greer. Meetings start at 10:30
and last approximately one hour, with time for additional questions afterward.

If you do any of the following- cloth diaper, breastfeed, delayed, selective, or not vaccinating, do not circumsize, natural birth, home birth, baby wearing, home school, family bed/co-sleep, gentle discipline- then there is a group on yahoo groups called alternamamas that you might like. THey meet IRL for playgroups, discussion groups, etc.
