Hi mamas! I am looking for childcare for my daughter who is 20 months old as soon as next week. I am having a hard time finding the right thing! We were looking at Children's Lighthouse and liked it a lot but it's pretty expensive and only offers a weekly rate. My husband and I work different schedules every week but we won't ever need more than 20 hours of child care per week so the weekly rates are too much for us! We have been considering Adventure Kid's Playcare as they provide hourly service which is ideal for us due to the flexibility but I don't like the structure of it. It just seems like little kids and big kids are set free to be wild with no supervision essentially. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! We are open to an in home daycare but as I said, our schedules vary and a lot of in home daycares are not open to that. Oh and we live in Allen and I work in Mckinney. Thanks for your help!!

What can I do next?

I understand your dilema. My husband & I both have retail careers, so our 22 month old daughter only goes 3 days a week (about 20 hrs), but we pay for full time. It is worth it to us to have her in a structured learning environment with a sense of normalcy & structured learning. Our director will occasionally give us a free week because we pay for a month at a time & often she is not there. You might discuss this option with the daycare centers you interview. I wish our daycare was close to you. Adventure land is fine for occasional babysitting, but will end up costing you as much if not more than just paying for full-time daycare. There are affordable places out there-- you just have to really search. Check out the independent daycares- not the franchises. Best of luck to you!

You should try Primrose School of North Plano. I know they offer part time schedules from 8:30-2:30 each day and they may be willing to work with you on the specific hours that your child is there. The number is ###-###-####. Good Luck on your search!

We chose to use an in-home child care provider instead of daycare (I've heard too many horror stories) when I was working. We found ours on the following website. http://www.dfps.state.tx.us/Child_Care/Search_Texas_Child... She is wonderful and we only paid for the days we took our son. She provided lunch and snacks, which she received funding from the state for through a nutrition grant. I found in-home to be much more accommodating with flexible work schedules.
