Recently, we bought a box of Annie's cheeseburger macaroni and my son ate it like there was no tomorrow. As "healthy" as that was (hee hee), I'd like to make it for him again, but from scratch. But I'd also like it to be just as easy... so does anyone have a cheeseburger macaroni recipe that 1) allows the macaroni to cook in the same pan as everything else and 2) requires a cheese other than Velveeta? Thanks!
Thanks for asking about this! My mother used to make something like this when I was a kid and I've been looking for a recipe! The one at allrecipes.com looks delicious and I look forward to trying it!
Funny you asked this today! I, like the previous poster mentioned, am addicted to the recipes on allrecipes.com and I get a daily recipe emailed to me from them. This is the one I got today. I haven't yet tried it and it may not be exactly what your looking for but it sure sounds like a crowd (kid) pleaser to me! When deciding on a recipe from this website, always read the comments, people who have made the recipe always have some good tips to add! Good luck!

With this one you have to cook the macaroni separately, but I clipped it from Real Simple back in the October issue and have made it a few times for my husband and daughter, who seem to like it.
I can't find it on their site, so...
Cheeseburger Mac 'n Cheese
1 1/2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
1/2 lb lean ground beef
1 tbsp minced dried onion
1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1 cup milk
1 pkg sliced american cheese, cut into strips
1 cup shredded extra-sharp cheddar
1/2 cup seasoned whole-grain croutons, coarsely crushed (I made my own by just baking some buttered bread for 10 min on a cookie sheet)
1. Cook macaroni and drain
2. Spray large nonstick skillet with nonstick spray. Add beef, dried onion, and pepper; cook over medium-high heat, breaking up beef with sppon, until browned, about 5 min. Drain, if necessary.
3. Return cooked macaroni to pot; add milk and cheeses. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until cheeses are melted, about 2 min. Stir in beef.
4. Spoon into serving dish and sprinkle with croutons.
Makes 4 servings
I just saw a recipe in the Kraft Food and Family magazine. It is not completley from scratch - more Semi-homemade. I am attaching the recipe from the Kraft website. And if you do not get this magazine, I would highly recommend signing up for it on the website, it's free!
