Looking for Activities for My Kids

I'm looking for extra-curricular activities to do with/for my kids for the fall. My daughter is almost 5, so she can do some independent activities, while my son is 2, so we need some Mommy and Me type classes for him. We're interested in just about everything: dance, karate, soccer, gymnastics, music, etc. Any and all places you can recommend would be great!

What can I do next?

Hi M.~
With my now almost-3-yr-old, we've been to Tumbles Gym in VB, and the open time could be enjoyed by both your kids. Also, the local recreation centers offer quite a bit for your older child, but the pool could be enjoyed by both plus you get a little exercise too. The free "Parent" magazine has lots of ads for different things as well. Good luck. :)

Hi M.,

The YMCA is a great place to start or The Norfolk Botanical Gardens has kids projects.

Hope this helps. Good luck. D.

I am not sure if this is what you are looking for but there is a place called Kangaroo Jac's in Chesapeake. It is a warehouse that is full of the big inflatable slides and everything. My son who is six loves it there. Here is a link to their website http://www.kangaroojacs.com/. Hope this helps.

Hi M.,
I have done Gymboree play & Music classes with m y children since they were 6 months old. Now Aryan (3) has outgrown it and doesn't wish to return, but Rheanna (11 months) LOVES them! They also have buy 1 class get one free with 6 month enrollment. So technically you get two classes :)
As for your 5 year old, I'm doing the reading bus that travels locally in virginia beach: http://www.vbschools.com/reading_bus/index.asp
And he'll start preschool in the fall.

Good luck!

I am a mom of three and I visited My Gym in the hilltop section of Va beach with my twins. It's not that expensive (for one kid) and my kids had a great time.
