Hi P.,

Do you want someone who you can talk to, or someone you can get medication from?

My therapist is great, her name is L. Jaqua. Her number is ###-###-####. She is great to talk to, but cannot write prescriptions. She could refer you to someone that could if you needed that.

I suffered as well. Please let me know if you want to talk.

Sincerely,
L. H.

P. - I'm very sorry! It's hard being depressed and trying to focus on what's at hand. I've always been very impressed with Child & Family Guidance Centers. I went to the one in Plano on and off for 4 yrs. Here's their information, I would call them and def your OB; maybe there is a medication your OB can prescribe to help you through the rough patch. Keep looking up, you'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi P.,
I'm sorry you are going through this. I don't have a recommendation for a therapist, but I wanted you to know that people care about you and your daughter. You might call your OBGYN and ask for a referrel. Mine provided me with a list of resources at my 6 week check up and there was some information and hotlines to call for post partum (i'm sorry I don't have that package any longer). Call your OBGYN or family Dr, and keep talking to them until someone gives you resources to help. Please send me a private message if you need someone to talk with or someone to watch your daughter so you can have a break.

Take care... And keep reaching out!

Hi P. - I am so sorry to hear that you are going through this but it will get better! I went through a rough state as well after having my daughter but after 8 months am doing ok. I strongly recommend Dr. Ann Dunnewold ###-###-####). She is not in Plano but in Dallas, close to Presby Dallas. She is amazing and makes you look at things from all angles to help you work through your issues. She is published and a top therapist in our area. I thank her for helping me get back to my 'happy pre baby self'. Have faith and take things one day at a time. This too shall pass -

P....

Good for you for recognizing the problem. The state of Texas actually has a website with lots of resources (free) for post-partum. I used them as a resource two years ago when my twins were born. www.texaspostpartum.org They have a support group in the area and the woman who runs it met with me personally and helped me alot!!

I also agree with the woman who recommended fish oils...I know it sounds crazy, but it worked for me, and helped me get off of my anti-depressants.

Good luck and lots of kudos to you for being brave enough to reach out:)

Hi P.,
I am now a single mom of a beautiful one year old little girl. This is due to me suffering from post pardum depression, it completely destroyed my marriage. It is a sad disorder and if left untreated, can have very sad results. I can't recommend a therapist in Plano, but I do strongly recommend getting the therapy and reading Brooke Sheild's book "Down Came The Rain". I cried almost every time I picked the book up to read a chapter or two...I could have written this book. All the things I was experiencing...I never thought to be from post pardum. I thought it would "go away" but it doesn't. I had too much pride to admit I had this disorder and had way too much pride to take medication for it. If pride is an issue, put it away, it will be worth it, I promise. This disorder destroyed the marriage I thought would last a lifetime.
I wish you the best.... ~J.

Hi P.,

I strongly suggest Dr Terry Parsons. He is a great therapist and has really helped my husband work through his depression. He isn't in Plano but is in North Dallas at 635/75. He is not one of those who you will be going to forever. He works with you on your issue and once you are better you are done. He is also a minister but he doesn't preach, work in ministry etc. He is a part time professor at SMU.

Hi P.,
I think I suffered from it too after my 3 1/2 year old was born. This was before Brooke Sheilds came out and really shed some light on the subject. It is scary. I never sought help but eventially began to feel better and now I love my life. I wish I had gotten professional help -I could have felt better sooner. I just wanted to let you know you are not alone. If you have not read Brooke Sheild's book "Down Came the Rain" about her depression I suggest you do. I have a copy that I could send to you. I found it enlightening. Let me know if I can help! N.
