Looking for a Preschool in San Jose/Los Gatos Area

I'm looking for a preschool for my son, who will be 3 in May. Any recommendations? I do not want it to be a church-based preschool.

My daughter will be starting Kindergarten (either Reed or Hacienda) at 8:55 in the morning, so I need something that can work with that schedule.

I'll second the Tomorrow Montessori. My daughter is in the preschool there, she was previously in the Toddler Room. My son was there for both preschool and kindergarten. He went directly into 1st grade, although that seems to depend on individual schools, and birthdate of the child. I wasn't trying to push him, but it was nice to have th option of kindergarten, since he missed the cut off by 3 months.
They are open from 7am to 6pm, very convenient.

My boys went to Carson Parent Participation Preschool at Rachel Carson Elementary School (near Branham and Narvez). You have to work 1 day a week there, but they (and I!) absolutely loved it--and the price is reasonable. I'm not sure if they have a 3 year old program--they went last year and had one or two 3 turning 4 year olds.

They started at 8:30, so that would work with your 8:55 schedule.

Good luck!

Hi R.,

We sent our children to Campbell Parent Participation PreSchool. As a parent we had to participate twice a month for the 3yr old program that met two times a week. I think the program has change a little since our children have been there. They celebrated 50 years last year. It was great to see all of the mothers that participated when my children were there which was over 25 years ago. The great thing about it too is the lasting friendships I have had with the other parents. I still keep in contact with several of them. Check out their website and call them up to take a tour. WWW.cppp.com. They are located at 528 Harrison Street, Campbell. ###-###-#### (very close to the Home Depot in Campbell)

My daughter is currently enrolled in Bella Vita preschool in Los Gatos. It is a Reggio based preschool and we love it. The teachers and the administrative staff are wonderful and Olivia loves it there.

My daughter attended Action Day Primary plus. She started out in the 3 yr room (3 turning 4) as she had just turned 4 but was soon moved to the 4 yr room (4 turning 5) becasue she was actually ahead of the other room. She absoulutely LOVES the school. She attended the Moorpark campus for preschool and moved to The Amber Elementary school for Kindergarten and is now in 1st grade there. They have a a huge dance program, soccer, flag football, spanish classes, and many other activities for the kids to enjoy. You can find out more at www.primaryplus.com and even schedule a day to come in and take a tour.

Good luck with your search!

R.,

My daughter attends ATLC (A Tyson Loving Care) Preschool and loves it. The school is located off of Union and Cambrianna, across from the Camden Community Center. The drop off time in the morning is between 8:15 a.m. and 8:45 a.m.

The school has been in existence for 25+ years and focuses on building the self esteem of the child as well as teaching a good balance between social and academic skills. There is not much information about the school (no website), for most of the exposure is from word of mouth. The registration for Fall 2009 starts in January. However, you can call the school office at any time to receive more information. ###-###-####) Good Luck!!

My daughter also goes to ATLC in Cambrian. This is her second and last year. We really like it. It's more of a play based program, as opposed to academic. But I find she's basically learning what she needs, with some instruction at home as well. For some reason they teach letter recognition, but not letter writing...don't get that! They offer French for the three year olds, Spanish and sign language for the 4 year olds. I don't know anyone unhappy with this school! Very loving and caring.
