There is also a Hillsboro MOMS club and you can look into MOPS as well. And then there's always Meetup.com. And Portland Dinner Grrls.

I have a five-month-old daughter and four-year-old son. I'm a bit older than you (34) but if you want to meet up for coffee or dessert one day I'd be open to that.

All of these are great suggestions. I am a member of the MOM'S club - there are several locatins - I am part of the West Hills group. It is a mom's group the includes lots of playdates for my kids all around (children's musuem, various parks - when the weather is nice), zoo, OGA, etc. There is lots of information at www.geocities.com/portlandwesthillsmoms The other nice thing is that we have mom's only night - I get to chat withother moms, no kids to interrupt. feel free to email me with any questions or our next playdate event! I'd love to meet you all. - christy

Hi there! I am one of the organizers for the Washington County Mom's meetup group. We have open playtime get togethers both at outside locations & in home on a regular basis. Our calendar is usually posted weeks in advance and kids of all ages are welcome. We do try to specify an age group for most activities, but the parents can decide if it's appropriate. Please visit our group website at http://moms.meetup.com/1568 or contact me if you have any questions!

Hi L.,

When my children were younger, I was involved in two different playgroups. One through an Aloha chapter of MOMS Club (you can look them up online) and one through Sunset Presbyterian Church (off Sunset near Cornell). Each group has meetings with moms where the children play together and seperate playgroups. I was mostly involved in the Sunset group and even though our kids are all in school now, we are still connected. If you delivered your child at a Providence Hospital (St V's) they have meetings with moms of newborns (I think up to 6 months) and I know other moms who have formed playgroups from there.
Good luck!

Try the play groups at the hospitals. Tuality Hospital in Hillsboro has a Free Support Group (the other area hospitals charge a fee!) for New Moms (and Dads) on Mondays, 11:30am - 1pm. This is for babies up to 12 mos and it doesn't matter if you delivered there or not.

I found a lot of support from other moms there who had babies around the same age. We compared notes, asked questions, and offered advice. You graduate to the Movers & Shakers group when your child turns 1 (or walks) until they turn 2. We formed our own play groups from there. I bonded with some great women there and we are all still friends as are our 2-3 yr olds!

That was the best advice a friend gave to me when I was pg. She lived in another town, but she said find a local hospital play group and GO. It's so valuable to meet and bond with other new moms, you won't believe you lasted this long without going!

Here's to you finding some other new mamas and babies!

my suggestion would be to register with Mothering.com. Here is a link to the PDX Westside group. http://www.mothering.com/discussions/showthread.php?t=569412
there is always some sort of playgroup being planned there. Its usually about once a week. All the girls are great!!!
