Looking for a Pediatrician on the Windward Side

I live in Kaneohe and am currently searching for a pediatrician. I would like to find a good pediatrician on the windward side. Instead of searching the phonebook, I was hoping to get advice from other moms. However, if anyone has recommendations about pediatrician in town I am open to that as well. Thank-you!

What can I do next?

We live in Kailua and go to Dr. Carlile and Dr. Anderson. Their practice is called Pediatric Care Inc. and is located in Pali Palms Plaza by Pinky's and across from Aikahi Shopping Center. They are great! Dr. Carlile is a woman and Dr. Anderson is a man, so if you have a preference you can see one or the other. But both are wonderful. They are very caring, concerned and patient. The best thing about their practice is is that they are open half days on Sat.and Sundays. This has saved us many weekend trips to the emergency room. They have always been very accomodating when my kids have gotten sick and can always seem to squeeze them in. I hope this helps.

S.,

I live in Kailua and have a 5 mon old boy. I use Dr Brit Reis on Uluniu St here in Kailua. She is great! We had some complications when he was first born and she was so helpful. Also, he came down with RSV about a month ago, and she was really wonderful then too. She will sit and talk with you about your concerns, but she is very positive and cheery all the time. I really like the atmosphere of the office as well. The girls that give the shots are very kind and fast. Good luck!

You might want to ask your Ob/GYN for ideas.
For me, when I had my 1st pregnancy, I asked my OB/GYN about Pediatricians he would recommend... and he did so.
My OB/GYN is someone I respect of course for medical wisdom... and so I trusted his recommendations. And that is how I found our Pediatrician. I don't know of any on the Windward side.

Ob/GYN's always know who or which Pediatricians are good and who Moms's like. So I would try that route.
Tell your Doctor, you want a Pediatrician for the Windward side. Or, ask the Hospital where you having your baby.

Where are you going to have your baby? What hospital? Some Pediatricians work only with certain hospitals. So you want to check on that as well.

Also, once you DO have your baby, you will find that it is much more convenient to have a Pediatrician near where you live... because you will need to take baby to Doctor visits or whenever baby is sick. And as a new Mom, trekking across the island with a baby, is just not convenient.

On the Windward side, there is Castle Hospital. They have a website, so maybe check that out too. And see their ratings.

Once you 'decide' on a Pediatrician.. have about 3 that you 'like" then make an appointment to meet with them as a pregnant Mom/with your husband, and do an introductory interview. This is common and what most Pregnant Mom's/couples do. It's normal to do so. THEN, you can decide on which Pediatrician you like.

YOu can also do a Google search on Doctor names.... and see what their "ratings" are....

Kapiolani Hospital has good Doctors/Specialists and Pediatricians as well. FYI.

Good luck,
Susan
