I have a 20 month old/ 6 month old....
I am needing to change daycare providers because my 20 month old is not receiving the attention/education I feel he needs right now. The staff at his current daycare does not interact with the children (read to them, sing, count, etc.)My son is still in a room with the infants. Any suggestions....please! Im already looking into the CCA. Thanks

What can I do next?

L.,
I'm not sure where you work in STL, but we take our 3 year old son to Southwest Baptist Childcare center in SW STL city. It's located on Smiley off Watson in 63139 (Tilles Park neighborhood). The center is only for ages 2-6, but thought it might be an option for your oldest in a few months. They charge $115 a week, which I've found is more affordable than most. We've been very happy there (kids are grouped by age; the day is structured, etc.). Good luck!

Hi L.!

I don't live in that area anymore, but we really loved Lutheran preschools. Our son went to his first year of preschool at a Lutheran school, and when we moved we were no longer near that school anymore, so he went to a public preschool instead. The difference in attention he received was very noticable to us. They did a lot more activities at the Lutheran preschool, and they had a higher teacher to student ratio. The public preschool didn't seem to be as structured (activity and learning-wise) as the Lutheran preschool. Religious school teachers don't get paid as much as public school teachers, but you wouldn't know it by seeing their interaction with children. It seems as if they are truly in it for the good welfare of the children, which is nice! Many times these schools are less expensive than public preschools, (and at least competitive in price). I know of two schools in that area. They are as follows:

Immanuel (in Olivette):

Our Redeemer (in Overland):

I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Kathy

L. are you looking just for the 20 month old or for both children? The reason I ask is because I run my own childcare and preschool in Kirkwood and I have openings. I could take the 20 month old but not the younger one. My hours are Mon- Fri 7:30am to 5:30 pm year round, I have been running my own business for 8 years and have excellent references. I charge 30$ a day, this includes their lunch an afternoon snack, and their preschool curriculum I use in the morning hours with the children. If you would like more information you can email me at ____@____.com or call me at ###-###-####
