Hi. My name is A. Crawford. I've been in West Monroe for about 15 years. I'm 27, married to my teenage love for almost 6 years now and we have a beautiful, wild 4 year old little boy, Dylan. My question, although some may thing private, is will your children be on medicaid or private insurance. That will make a BIG difference in Dr. choices. We have never have private ins. so Dylan is on medicaid. I tried a few different Doctors when he was little and finally settled on an old friend of mines pediatrician. The clinic is called Monroe Regional Medical Clinic. There are a few Dr.s there and I'm not sure if they put a child with a certian Dr. by letter of last name. Her childs last name started with B and ours is C so we got the same Dr. Anyway, his Dr. is Georgina Burns. She at first does not come off as the most friendly person, but opens up with time. Also, I like that she treats agressively. Dylan has been fighting the same ear infection for about 6 weeks. First go around, it wasnt real bad. She gave him antibiotics and we thought it was gone. Two weeks later on the weekend, he went to crying with his left ear. We took him to the ER. They said he had a pus pocket on his ear drum. We expected a shot, but no. Antibiotics and ear drops. He was fine. Till two weeks later. The day before Good Friday he complained again. I gave him drops and medicine and sent him to school. I was a bad day for me to try to take off work, and he said he had been pretending. Later that evening his Daddy called and said he was complaining again and running fever. I called his Dr. and they said have him there by 4 and they'd see him since it was a long weekend. I left work a little early and met him and Daddy. Dr. Burns said the pus pocket was gone, but eardrum still real red. Now the fun part, the shot. She said she wanted to knock it out of there. Took me and Shane to hold him down for the nurse. The we also got antibiotics, a stronger kind and more ear drops. He just took the last dose this morning and seems fine. But now he and I both have the crud. Flowers are already blooming here, it's in the 70's most days now, and pollen is killing everyone.
Have you ever lived or been to Louisiana? If not, you're going to have some getting used to with the heat and short winters.
