I just had my 2nd baby 3 weeks ago via cesarean. My plan was that the second time around i would try for a VBAC but preeclampsia again appeared in my 2nd trimester and i ended up with another cesarean :-( You're probably thinking im crazy of wanting to have another child but i long for a baby that is fully awake and a great nurser. My 2 boys were born of 35 weeks because of preeclampsia. I was woundering if any one knows of a doctor who will accept to deliver a 3rd time mother wanting a VBAC. I ask so next time i want to TTC i know where to get my prenatal care and i wont feel obligated to have another cesarean. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Congratulations on the birth of your second child!

I have heard that Kaiser is supportive of VBACs from many women, but I needed to so some research because my situation was a little different. I needed to find a VBAC supportive practice that also accepted Medi-Cal.

For myself, I found Dr Mary Margaret O'Neill in Campbell. She delivers at Good Samaritan. She makes no guarantees and she is conservative but also supportive of VBACs under certain conditions. I would need to go into spontaneous (non-induced) labor on or prior to my due date. She also wants me to keep my pregnancy weight down (in the event that my daughter's head was a factor in my c-section- she was in the 90th percentile). I also like that she utilizes midwives in her practice, they are very encouraging yet also grounded and keep me focused on what I need to do to increase my chances for the VBAC.

Good luck in all your endeavors!

They are really against it, here in San Jose.. more the reason that someone needs to be there the whole time while you are in labor, in case somethign goes wrong, I think tis more "political" that anything. I had 3 c-sections, they would not let me try to have it normally.. but it worked out for me.

Kaiser Santa Clara was very supportive of our plans for a VBAC. My baby had other plans though! We went into labor 5dys after the due date (our deadline was 6dys) and he was surprise breech so we had an emergency Csection because my water had broken. He was awake, aware, and a great nurser from the first moments. A happy healthy baby is the ultimate goal... even if if does involve reusing your "zipper" :)
