T.K.
My mil used to coat them in bbq sauce and serve that as a main dish. She would make a green salad and either mac n cheese or mashed potatoes on the side. It was pretty darn good as a quickie weeknight meal.
The kids have viral pink eye, so I can't get out and about for groceries. I have chicken, but I am pretty darn sick of eating chicken. I did find a big package of little smokies in the deep freeze. I know tons of appetizer recipes (and I know I could fix those for dinner), but I thought some clever mama out there might have a maine dish I hadn't considered. So anyone out there have a great recipe I can use to get these smokies out of the deep freeze and in our bellies? :)

Shoot, I take them and wrap them in bacon then stick them in the oven for dinner, complimented by some sort of vegetable. Because you know, as long as you add a veggie to the equation then it automatically cancels out the bad in the main course. True story.
We don't have it very often. :)
Pigs in a blanket & some french fries, to make it fun, or mac n cheese.
Breakfast for dinner? Eggs and smokies (sausage).
Mix them in Mac N Cheese with some veggies
Mix them with pasta and sauce - can't be too different tasting than meatballs...
Do you have eggs or tortillas, cheese or tomatoes/salsa? You can make like a breakfast burrito.
You can cut them up and add them in spaghetti sauce, or use in place of meat for another kind of pasta dish.
If you have veggies and rice, you could use the little smokies as the smoked sausage in a stir fry. I have seen stir fry recipes that call for polish/summer sausage, which is what little smokies pretty much are.
This reminds me of a little boy that lived across the street and he was always talking about "smokies and O O's". The O O's were spaghettios and he loved them with those little smokies. If you don't have the spaghettios, you could use any kind of pasta mixed with some maranara jarred sauce or make your own. Not a very nutritious dinner but if you can't get to the store, as you say, it's something to eat.
Dump in a big old pot with some potatoes (preferably little red or yellow ones) and some greens beans and some water. Cook until the potatoes and green beans are done (if you're using canned green beans instead of fresh or frozen add them LAST about 5 minutes before your ready to eat so they don't get mushy!)
Combine the Little Smokies with applesauce or chopped peeled apples, add a little brown sugar (just a sprinkling), and bake in a casserole dish until it's hot and bubbly. This might be good with a corn bread crust. Make a corn bread batter, put over the sausages and apples after they are nearly hot, and bake until the corn bread is done.
You can make mini pigs in a blanket with them.
