I have a heavy duty hard floor/carpet pet hair vacuum cleaner, but I'm looking for a lightweight/stick type vacuum for my tile, since my regular vacuum is so heavy & cumbersome. If it matters, I have 2 dogs, so I have a have a lot of upkeep to do. If you have one that you love, can you please tell me all about it?

Thanks!!

What can I do next?

2 weeks ago I bought a Shark Navigator from Walmart. So far, I love it! We have a house full of laminate flooring with only carpet in the bedrooms. It switches between flooring with a touch of a button and it is so lightweight, even my 6 yr old can help vacuum a little. Check out the reviews on Walmart's website.

I have a Swivel Sweeper. You see them on TV but they are available at Walgreens. I love it. It's not actually a vacuum but an electric broom. But it works as well as they say on TV.

I have the Bissell FeatherWeight Vacuum, Bagless, 3106B. Bought it for around 20$ from amazon. Comes with a crevice tool and converts into a hand vacuum for stairs. The cord is 16 ft long, I find it a little short, an extension cord solves that problem. This is my go-to vacuum.

I just bought a Bissell 3 in 1 Lightweight vacuum (model 38B1-X) from Walmart for less than $10 (Black Friday sale). It is bagless and comes with a 16ft cord, crevice tool, and easy to empty dirt cup. It is very small but it sucks up any cat hair (I have 2 cats), litter, dirt, hair, etc that is on my floor with no real problem. I can put on the floor head and extension handle for the tile & vinyl floors, and it gets everything with a couple slow passes. For my stairs (which are carpeted), I take off the extension handle and floor head, and it becomes a lightweight handheld vacuum. It has no problem getting hair off/out of the carpet. I did my kitchen, living room, and stairs in a mere 15 minutes. The only downfall? I had to empty the dirt cup twice. I can lift it with my pinky though and it works much better than having to sweep the floors and have dirt/hair fly everywhere! It's the best $10 I ever spent! Just rinse the dirt cup out & let dry, and rinse the filters after every use and it will last you a long time. Bissell's are great.

I have never found a light weight stick type vaccuum or even one of those hand held models that I felt was really worth having. None of them have a big enough motor to really have much suction power...I think you would be better off with a dry dust mop to clean your tile...any smaller vaccuum that I have ever purchased has turned out to be a colossal waste of money!!

I have a Ricar vacuum. I've had it for 8+ years and I love it. It works on hard floor and carpet and only weight 8 pounds. I got it a Sew & Vac. It was pricy but does it all and you only have to have one vacuum. It was a Consumer Reports best buy. The suction is very strong and it tends to suck them up. I have to lift if up a bit when I do the throw rugs. If you have carpet with a long knap, I wouldn't suggest this vacuum because of the strong suction.
