hey mamas! well yesterday i had one of the worst days - not that anything tragic happened or anything like that. it was just one of those days that i seemed to screw up constantly - it was awful! a little back story - my husband lost his job last week. at work we are 1 week into the busiest time of year, when our business will triple or quadruple it's normal volumes for about two months. yesterday i also had three new trainees on top of running the department and doing all my regular duties. as well as trying to help my husband finish and print his resume and put finishing details on my son's birthday next weekend. so in the midst of all of this, i sent an email to our home office wrong, TWICE. misplaced my son's check-in sheet for his before school program. screwed up the 10 copies of hubby's resume that i printed out, so they have to be reprinted. lost my son's kindergarten homework. OH and about 5:00 pm, when i was really looking forward to getting off and going home in another hour or so - realized i had FORGOTTEN TO FEED MY CHILD BREAKFAST that morning!!!! that was just the cherry on top....talk about feeling like a failure.

honestly, this is so not like me. "Simplify" is my mantra. i don't do crazy! i'm usually a lot more organized. i think everything just caught up to me at once.

as for today, so far, i have been woken up at 3:30 with a tension headache and spent an hour with my head over the toilet. miracle of miracles, the meds actually seem to be working and now, 3 hours later, i almost feel normal. i think i'm gonna make it lol. and my child is currently eating breakfast. so i'm already ahead ;) anyone else care to spill? don't worry, i won't hold it against you, if you don't hold it against me!! :)

What can I do next?

This was my husband's worst day "ever"...

He was late for work one morning because after I had left for work, the cat barfed-up three hair balls on our freshly carpeted stairs (custom cut designer carpeting that we had "splurged" on).

He gets to work and starts his on-site excavation (he's an engineer) only to hear a loud explosion and see men jumping out of a giant hole in the ground. He thought they had hit a gas line, but it ended-up being a compressed air line. After some inquiry, he found out that the architect had given him out-dated line maps, so he was digging INCHES from a gas line and thankfully nicked an air pipe.

So.. he gets in his car to come home and half way home realizes that he left his lunch box and coffee mug on his desk. NOT a big deal, but still frustrating because our "back up" lunch box is hot pink.

The poor man comes up the stairs and greets me with a weary "I forgot my lunchbox", walks to the couch to turn on the t.v. and "POP" the t.v. blows. He looked at me, walked into the kitchen, grabbed a beer and said "I'm going to bed."... it was 6:00 and he was done for the night.

Saturday I took the husband and kids to the local nature reserve to rent a boat and do some fishing. We went in. I said I'd like to rent a boat. She said boat rentals were over for the season. OK. We'll just fish off the dock. She said fishing is over for the season. OK, we'll rent a bison buggy and drive out to the bison pasture. Bison buggies are done for the season. We'll just go an have lunch at the Cafe. Cafe has a limited menu today. So much for my well laid plans. Anyway, it was still a nice day and we ended up hunting grasshoppers and crickets to feed to the baby owls so they could learn how to hunt, so it wasn't a total loss. Last Monday afternoon the phone rang at 1:37pm. It was the orthodontists office. Our appointment was at 1:30pm. I said I could have him there in five minutes, and she said it would bbe too late and rescheduled. I was really worried I'd be billed for the missed appointment, because they are expensive! Then later the same day I missed younger sons swim lesson, because I forgot the time had changed. It's hard getting back into routine after summer vacation.

I have days like this all the time but here's just one incident for you ....

Saturday was Homecoming so I was taking my daughter to her friends' house because they were going to do each other's hair, etc. to get ready. Well, I had met the girl and her mom but had never been to their house. So, just for fun I was using my new toy (GPS my hubby just got me for my birthday!). Well, don't you know - it's telling me to turn LEFT into a driveway when I can clearly see the address is wrong. BUT, I'm slowing down so I can see the addresses - no one was behind me. My daughter screams at me... "OH MOM, JUST KEEP ON GOING!" Going WHERE???? I knew we were really close so where the heck did she want me to go??

So, I drove a little ways down the street, pulled into someone's driveway and just sat there fuming!! My daughter actually CALLS a friend to find out which house it is although I'm almost positive it was the one right across the street - making it a RIGHT turn is what the GPS should have said.

Well, I was right!!! But of course, my daughter implies I can't do anything right!!! And usually I can feel so inept all on my own!! Thanks daughter!!

Thanks for letting me vent!! lol!!! I feel better now!

Awwww....you hang in there!

There've been days when I forgot to give my son breakfast AND forgot to pack his lunch for school, even though I've had a hearty breakfast and lunch myself. Does that put me in the running for "Worse mom of the year"?

Sorry about your husband's job. Its hard when a household has to lose an income.
