T.K.
I like a margarita on the patio and chips and salsa. I would meet my friends at an upscale Mexican place with a patio. Then maybe to a place with live music. If I wanted to really let loose and howl at the moon, we would go to a karaoke bar.
Ok Ladies I will be 30 this May!! (jaw drop..lmao) However, I was wondering some ideas that other moms may have done for their adult birthday? I use to, obviously, do the bar thing and drinking, bowling, pool hall etc when I was younger. But I wouldnt want to do that now or hang out with a bunch of teenie boppers..lol I talked to my husband and he's okay with either having a party at home or my husband suggested me going out with a few of my girlfriends (yay!) But I have no idea where to go for a grown-up type of birthday with the gals.. We would like to drink, get a cab and not get too hammered so I'd be able to function with my three lil' ones the next day. But any suggestions out there or places to go would be nice b/c I don't know but I have a month to figure it out. Thanks ladies!

I would try and do something awesome like a spa weekend with a couple of close girlfriends. You can get great package prices at various hotels...if you have a few friends and they can chip in it doesn't have to break the bank and a weekend to just be with friends and hang out could be amazing...
For my 30th last May, me, hubby and 2 kids went to Silver Lake Dunes by Lake Michigan, camped and rented a dune buggy for an hour. Super FUN!
We just had a 38th birthday party for my bf at Blue Jean Bar - it was SO MUCH FUN. Ladies drinking, shopping and snacking - perfect - and my new designer jeans make my booty look much younger than 37! LOL
have fun and enjoy 30 - it's a great decade... :-)
Hi M.,
How about a whole new look instead? Book a fab spa/salon day and everyone get new hair color, cuts, nails and pedicures and massages. Then all go pick out new dresses (or outfits whatever makes you feel great) and finally meet at a expensive sit-down dinner with your SO (or casual if that is more affordable/enjoyable).
This way it has been all about you all day but it wont cause you a headache the next day!
Hope you have a wonderful day no matter what you do!
I'm sure there are a ton of grown up bars around you. I would absolutely rent a limo and go out with the girls. How fun!!!!! Maybe you can ask your friends if they know of any good places. Piano bars are always a lot of fun. In May it might be warm enough that you could find a bar with a patio that's open. I love to sit outside and have a few drinks. You could go out to dinner and then go out early. You'd probably be at home in bed before any of the bars got too rowdy.
Of course, a part at home is lots of fun too. It's even more fun if you can make it adults only. Maybe you kids could go spend the night somewhere?
Start earlier in the day and go home by 10:00. Lot less people and you'll be able to hear everyone talking instead of yelling (assuming you go out drinking.)
We rented a limo bus for my 30th and went to a few bars DownTown before returning closer to home so we could all be dropped back off. GREAT time!!
Like the Wine Tasting idea which can be a good couples or gals only event. Being as you have 3 little one's, a day at the Spa may be AWESOME with the girls (have your hubby stay with the kids) and then you can go out together that evening and get a sitter. Why not make it an all day event?!??!
Have FUN!!
rent a limo...jazz bar...dueling pianos
I'm turning 30 this week too, and am going out to a concert (on a weeknight) at a downtown club that I have been wanting to see. Haven't been to one is years and am so excited! maybe you can do something similar?
Last fall, myself and two of my close girlfriends all had our 30th birthday. We are all 3 weeks apart. We went to the Mountaineer Casino & Resort for an overnight trip. We left on Friday at noon and came home on Saturday about 5:00. We did a bit of gambling, we went swimming, had a few drinks, stayed up half the night talking & got massages. It was so relaxing and fun to be just with grownups. I am the only one with children so they were laughing at me when I ate Strawberry shortcake for dinner and pizza at 2:00am. I said this is one of the few days during the year that I do not have to set a good example for anyone and I can do whatever I want (even if that includes eating like a 10 year old).
Wine tasting. You can hire a limo for a few hours or have a designated driver.
Massages, pedicures, lunch and wine near your home.
A day of shopping at a mall and a nice lunch.
An overnight trip nearby somewhere fun w/3 girlfriends or so, have dinner at the hotel, get massages, have a nice bottle of wine at dinner or the bar downstairs. Lastly, order roomservice for a decadent breakfast.
Treat yourself to something you've been wanting: an inexpensive piece of jewelry, some clothes, haircut and color etc.
What about a store? Shopping for something fun for yourself at a boutique is a wonderful adult thing to do for a birthday! Ask your friends to help you pick it out, and then take them out for a light meal. Perhaps you ALL have families to take care of the next day, so make it short, sweet, and totally fun. Just a thought.
