We're going for the first time this summer. So excited for my little guys. Would love to hear from other Mamas about what you liked, what you didn't like, if there's anything you wish you'd known ahead of time. Also, is it worth it to get a 2-day pass? Other passes/deals you would recommend?

Thanks in advance!

Money is not an issue for us but this is one of two places I felt ripped off. There are NEVER refunds for weather and when there is lightning up to 8 miles away, they stop rides and outdoor shows. We arrived late and spent most of the day in the sunshine waiting for things to open. I would arrive early and stay all day.

Given how far away you will be coming from, it will definitely be worth it to get a 2-day pass. My kids love LEGOLAND. I would get there as the park opens and get as many rides as you can. As the park gets busier, the lines naturally get longer. I would also stop somewhere and eat a huge breakfast right before you get there. Food is really expensive inside and it helps if you can get by with snacks while there. My kids are 7 and 9. There is a lot of walking and they are pretty much done after about 5 hours. Another reason you might want to do a 2-day pass...

If you're planning on going to the waterpark then I would get a two day pass, if not one day is more then enough to get through the park. It is not nearly as large as one of the Disney or Universal parks and the rides are made specifically for kids.

The last time I was there they were doing some up grading (needed shady areas and fans) and building the new hotel. As always the food is more expensive but they do have healthy options. It does get hot and some of the rides are interactive, I didn't like the fire engine ride since I almost passed out from heat exhaustion (and I live 15 minutes from this park). I did enjoy the sky ride and walking through what is left of Cypress Gardens (this is located in the back and was part of the original park).

There is plenty to do around the area it just depends on what you like.

I forgot to add my 8 year old loves the World of Chima ride and the driving. Bring a change of clothes or put on a swim suit for the World of Chima ride, everyone gets soaked.

Hi. We were just there in February. And I was at Toys R Us in Lombard about a week ago and they had a stack of the coupons to get a child in free to Legoland with the purchase of the adult ticket just sitting out on a table. Maybe you can call and see if they still have them. The hotel is supposed to open in May and my son is begging me to go back so we can stay at the hotel. He has looked up videos of it on YouTube and I must admit it does look cool. We only spent one day at the park and we didn't quite see everything. We did ride the three roller coasters at least twice though. The park also had winter hours and closed at 5. It may be open longer when you will be there. The waterpark was not open when we were there. All in all my son is a Lego nut and loved it so I am glad we took him!! But I do highly recommend getting your hands on those coupons. Have fun!!

We got a buy an adult ticket get a child free in the Lego magazine that you can sign up for free . It's not worth the full price for us . It is fun but hot ! There isn't a lot of coverage from the sun or many places to sit . Drink lots if water . We usually eat at the pizza buffet . It's ok but we like that you can get out of the heat and refill your drinks !! If it's super hot out and you don't have the buy one get one coupon I would get the park / water park ticket . Then it would be doable . They are opening a new hotel so I bet the 2 day would be worth it if you are staying there . It is fun so I would go ! Have fun !

We went last year and my boys loved it (they were 9, 6, and 3). Honestly, I think one day is enough. My mom found coupons on the back of Pepsi cans that saved us a lot of money. We had 4 adults and 3 kids. The coupon was buy one adult and get one kid in for free. So, all three kids were free. They also give free passes to active duty military (just the soldier, not the family), so my husband was free. It still cost about $300 to get it, but that was a less than $700. I do think it's kind of pricey, so look for the BOGO coupons.

Food was decent--we ate lunch there.

Gift shop--shop first! Someone suggested that to us and they were right. Shop first because the gift shops get super crowded at the end of the day. They will hold your purchases and you pick them up at the stroller rental counter. Prices were decent at gift shop--most matched Amazon.com prices.

Hotel--they were building a Lego Hotel when we were there last July. It's supposed to open soon (maybe it's already open). I looked at pictures online--it looks dumb (in my opinion). I'm not sure how much it costs. It's RIGHT NEXT TO the entrance to the park.
