Leaky Diapers

My 13 month old daugher wets through her diapers in the middle of the night, every night. I've already cut back on the amount of milk and water she gets after dinner which has not made a difference. I've been using Pampers Cruisers, does anyone know of a better diaper for overnight so she doesn't wake up wet at 2am? Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all very much for your advice on the leaky diapers! She has cut down on leaks to only 3-4 nights per week instead of every night by going up to size 5 pampers baby dry diapers. The huggies overnights just did not fit her as well. We've also started to put her on the potty seat before her evening bath, which might be helping, too. Thank you all again, I really appreciate your advice!

Honestly, just go up a size on the diaper. Pampers "Baby Dry" seemed to work best.
Since I had a problem with certain diapers which exploded, I called Proctor & Gamble and that was their suggestion was to increase the size. They explained all children hold different amounts of fluids so that is why the diapers range so much in how many pounds the child is for a gauge on what diaper size to choose. (They also sent me a voucher for 10 dollars off diapers!)

I had that problem with my (now) 2 year old. After much advice, I switched to the Target brand, and got a size larger. My 11 month old has always had the Target brand diapers, and I've never had a problem with leaks. Plus, they're so much cheaper!

Hi L..

I had to double diaper my daughter a few times when she was going through growth spurts. If she didn't end up peeing through to the second diaper (completely dry and clean) I would put it back on her after I took the wet one off and had cleaned her up. It is an easy way to keep them dry, but can get expensive if you don't reuse the diapers that are perfectly clean still. DO NOT reuse any double diapers that are wet or dirty at all, even if they are barely wet or dirty. It is better to contain the mess than have her sleep in peed clothes and sheets or disturb her sleep every night for a diaper change, in my opinion.

Good luck and take care. A.

there is a product called diaper doublers. You can get them at toys r us and babies r us. They are just the absorbent part of the diaper that you place in with the regular diaper and "doubles" the amount of liquid the diaper can hold. We use cloth during the day and sitll use a disposable and a doubler every night. The best part about the doublers is the price. They are 3.99 for 30. The other suggestion I have and was suggested to me before we switched to modern cloth diapers, if she is soaking through the diapers, just move her to the next size. My son always was a big soaker and he was in at the low end of the weight range with all of the diapers he has worn. Sometimes he was smaller. Hope this helps!

Umm she is awful young to potty train and maybe you need to find something else that hold it all like cloth diaper? Yeah.. I said cloth diapers! Things have changed since the old days. They are no longer pins and plastic pants. You must google cloth diapers and see what it becomes. Try looking here as well, http://hyenacart.com/index.php there are many cloth diapers that can be custom made to fit your child. They offer snaps, velcro, snappi, pins and more! Cloth diapers are adorable, fun, easy to clean, and BETTER FOR THE ENVIRONMENT! Try that place is great! Not to mention they offer many one of kind items for kids, moms, dads and handmade toys! This is one of my most favorite places on the net to shop and best of all-all the stores are own by stay at home moms!

I love the Costco diapers (Kirkland Signature brand). I tried almost every brand out there before I found one that keeps my son dry at night. Ever since he could roll over he has been sleeping on his stomach and he used to wet out the top front of his diaper every night. I actually bought a size bigger than usual so they would extend further up on his tummy and that seemed to help for overnight (but not for daytime because the leg elastics weren't snug enough to prevent poopy leaks). The Costco diapers are slightly less expensive than Huggies (last time I compared prices). They have a double-elastic leak guard around the legs, super wide and stretchy waist band, stretchy and strong closure tabs, and an extra-absorbent inner pad that extends from front to back (to work well for girls and boys. Good luck - I hope you find something that works!

There is an "overnight" diaper on the market specifically meant to hold a lot of fluid. I've had to use it. I believe it is made by Huggies. Worked well for my son who did not stay dry overnight until he was FOUR ! The package is purple and I believe it even has a moon and stars, hence, the name "overnight" diaper. Good luck !

Good job cutting the amt. of drinks down after dinner.
It sounds to me like it might be time to go up a size in diapers. Anytime we started having leaking problems going up a size helped...also I have two children under 4 and have tried every single brand/style of diaper ever made...I found that the Walmart brand, white cloud, worked just as well as the pampers or huggies or luvs or anyother brand and they are ALOT cheaper!

At that age the potty training should be introduced any way but it might be a good idea to have your daughter sit on the potty before she goes to bed. My oldest daughter was potty trained day and night by the time she was 15 months old. I did not push her into it. All I did was start having her sit on the potty before she goes to bed and she did the rest. The other three of my children was a differant story though.

Huggies Overnites work great. I've been using them for my son ever since he could wear the size 3 diapers. They come in 3's, 4's, and 5's. I even e-mailed them to see if they could make a size 6 as that is what my son is in now, but they don't make that size. However, no wetting through problems with the size 5 overnites that he still wears! They can be hard to find....Wal-Mart doesn't have them anymore, but a lot of grocery stores do. I just recently ordered them on-line.

Hi there!! I've been through this with my two year old, and now my 6 month old as well. I've tried other diaper brands, and honestly think pampers is the best... the others were worse! especially huggies- if they get too full the beads will spill out onto your babies skin- not good.

But what I have found to solve the problem is at night I put one size bigger on them than what they wear during the day. They are loose under clothes, yes, but they still keep everything in, and there is a little extra room for all that pee!

What I have found to work is Huggies Supreme Natural Fit. They have worked great for us and believe me they can hold a TON as I've taken diapers off of him after a good nights sleep that were VERY full and VERY heavy! We just kept buying small pkgs of diapers until we found one that worked..then we went and bought a big box of them. I have also found that when Aiden was leaking through it helped to move up to the next size. He is now in a size 5 diaper. Hope this helps.

I would recommend trying a few different brands. Oddly enough the way babies sleep and their bodies causes gaps and leaks in different brands so what might work for one baby might not work for another and price doesn't always guarantee a great diaper for overnight. We lucked out for over a year and the generic Wal-mart brand worked the absolute best in one size larger than what my daughter normally wore during the day. But then we started getting leaks again and we tried Luvs, Huggies, and finally settled on Pampers. They've worked great for awhile. Now we're almost at the end of potty-training and she only wears the Huggies overnights. Good luck!!

I would try the overnite diapers. I think huggies makes them. They work well.
