I use Pampers Underjams for my daughter. They seem to be the best for us. I have tried the Good-nights and they always leaked. The underjams are made for bigger kids so I think they hold more.
My son is 5 1/2 and still occasionally soaks the bed/comforter overnight... I have a mattress protector, but still a major hassle among the many we already have every day right? I've used them all, size six diapers and pull-ups of all brands and they all leak, especially the pull-ups...Does anyone have any luck with the Good-nights, haven't tried since they are very expensive, or are they the same as all the others, useless? Should I just stop wasting money and put him to bed in his underwear since nothing seems to work? I'm hoping something does, before I throw in the towel and just accept that I'll have to clean up the mess until he grows out of it....Blah!!
Thanks everyone so much for your response..I think I'll try the underjams...

the generic walmart diapers size 6 fit my son and he didn't leak thru them. my son is "small" i guess. he only weighs about 40-45lbs and is 40" tall. so if your son is taller, that might be causing the problem. i tried the goodnights. they didn't work for me. i stopped using diapers with my son back in May. he does still have an occasional accident, but i have the plastic mattress pad and just change it and wash everything in the morning. maybe you can look for those plastic underwear that people can use for potty training. that should hold in the pee.
I use Walgreens brand of night time pullups. They're about the cheapest I have found and the only time i see a leak through is when I alternate and buy the girls version - I have TWO(boy & girl - same age as yours and few years older) still wetting at night (oh gawd make it stop please!!). Now, I could be wrong and it just be excessive pee, but now that you mention it.. I think it's the girl version that leaks on my son. It's happened a few times in the last few weeks - even this morning! and we're using girl verson. You can't TELL the difference in looks - they're generic white, just where the padding is I guess, front verses back??? I'll have to constantly buy the boy version. I'm like you, I hate spending the money but will have to wait it out too - since their father was a late stopper... Walgreens brand is 8.99 and sometimes they have them on sale for 6.99. (ok.. going to go wash the sheets now... :P )
Diaper doublers! I tried every night time diaper, two diapers, you name it - my son (and the bed) were still wet. Then we found "diaper doublers" at Babies R Us. They're basically a big maxi-pad without the adhesive. Now we use one Huggies overnight diaper and one diaper-doubler, and we rarely have a problem. good luck!
I have had great success with the Goodnights...my little one is a girl so I am not sure how that would play into any design differences, but they are the only one I use for her. They prevent leaks and are absorbent to help keep her skin drier!
Have an OT or PT check to see if he still has two primitive reflexes. Spinal Galant and Spinal Pereze. When I integrate them on older children still wetting the bed, they stop in about 4 days!
The Huggies goodnites totally worked for us -I would go with the bigger size so theyhold even more. Pampers Underjams feel much softer and nicer but leaked for us. The other thing I used was a waterproof thing (Onestepahead.com has them) that is like a waterproof mattress protector but it just goes over the sheet, or right under the fitted sheet so kids don't see them, it tucks around both sides-it may be called a sheet saver?...I also had the regular fitted mattress protctor on but found it much easier to change just the top sheet and this waterproof pad -mine sleeps on his sotmach so we never had the wet comforter issue.
You kow the goodnites are expensive but you only need one a day so $30ish for a month, isnt' really that bad, $1 per day and there are always coupons around (sign up on huggies.com, they also will send you a free sample I think so you can try and see if you like them). Good luck!
We've got the same problem. My son leaks through the Goodnites, but the Pampers Underjams have worked for us.
