Laundry Question Again.

Okay so today is laundry day. Yeah! Oh what a glorious day it is...yeah right!!! Tuesday has always been my laundry day. Today I just got a lovely surprise when I washed a load of coloreds (good clothes of course--Easter clothes just worn Sunday)and found my freshly washed clothes are now brown and dingy. Apparently today was the day they decided to flush the lines in our area, during that load. I am once again just sick. Would love a miracle cure for this one. I have had this happened before with whites, and the water department was able to give me some powder stuff that took it right out, but if I am not mistaken it also takes out color. We have even installed filters for this very reason, but it has been in for a couple weeks and apparently them flushing the lines was too much for the remainder of it. I am going to review some of the ideas from the crayon nightmare I had a few weeks ago, but I don't think I could possibly treat every stain this time considering it is the entire garment and entire load. I hate our city water!!!! Please help. I have the worst luck with laundry.

What can I do next?

I don't know if it will work for sure but you could try putting a cup of white vinegar in with the wash load. It helps to brighten clothes and I use it in every load when I do laundry. Good luck!

oxi clean is great stuff... the powder kind... my mother-in-law swears by it. you might give it a try. soak your clothes in it overnight, then wash them. hopefully that might help.

what a bummer! didn't they warn you? we always get a little yellow notice on our doors when they're going to flush out the water. i would be mad too! sorry!

THis always works for me.......I use two cups of peroxide and one cup of baking soda for almost every load......it WILL not take out the color....promise......basically this is the exact same thing as OXYCLEAN but in liquid form....it is the bomb for me......give it a try......Let me know if it works for you! Good luck!

So, I suck at laundry. I just had to tell you how sorry I am and can only sympathize. Do you think something like soaking them in peroxide and then dumping in a box of baking soda. Shouldn't discolor and I know straight peroxide is great on blood stains. Sorry, as I stated I suck at laundry and that's all I got.

ok first i know a lot of ppl hate walmart but that is the only place i saw this stuff it's been years but check out the laundry section and they should have little boxes of dye for clothes and such and i beleive that same company makes somethign that should fix your clothes, make sure to read the box though cause i'm not sure if it's safe for colored clothes, oxy clean might work and is safe for colored items and you can soak stuff for days if needed with no harm done. and some colorsafe bleach might help as well. good luck.

Try Dawn dishsoap in your washer with your regular detergent. My brother is a farmer and a mechanic and he swears that Dawn will take out any and all stains. He uses it on all his dirty and greasy stains. I'm not sure the quantities to use though. Hopefully that will work! :)
