I have an old boyfriend sweater (The ones that have the argyle pattern down the front and the collared shirt attached underneath?) The sweater part is black and the shirt is white. I avoided washing it for a really long time, afraid that the black would run onto the white…. And that is exactly what happened.
Normally I would keep playing around with it but I don’t want to damage it. I really need to wear it next week. I have a temp job lined up that I need to wear business casual attire. I was laid off one year ago, and for the life of me I can’t find my old work clothes (not that I can fit any of them now anyway…..)
I do have 2 other job prospects but those require scrubs (that I would have to buy too…..) So I don’t want to go out and buy a bunch of things for the temp position (keeping my fingers crossed that I will get one of the other positions and only have to work the temp job 1-2 weeks)
Ok sorry went off on a TANGENT……
So how can I get the white part back white without affecting the color of the black sweater? I didn’t dry the sweater so I wouldn’t set the color but it was probably a year ago (maybe more ) when I did washed it?

What can I do next?

They have a cloth now that grabs colors that have run. Look in the laundry dept. at the grocery store.

If you are looking for cheap business casual clothing why not hit the consignment shop or goodwill? When I went back to work after staying home for 8 yrs I used a consignment shop for all my clothing. Worked out great for very little money. In fact I'd go twice a week and only look at the sale rack.

One time I had a customer meeting that was really important. I found a dress (with the dry cleaning tags still on it) for $6 that I had seen at the mall for over $100. I joked with my friends that my pantyhose cost more than my consignment shop dress and heels.

Can you cut the white part out and then wear a white blouse under?

It's probably toast,as the color catchers would have had to be IN the load when it happened. Hit a thrift store for a few items before the job starts.

Go get a box of the Shout Color Catcher sheets. They work wonders! Also, wash in COLD water. GL

I have that same sweater and have done that same thing. Its now sitting on my closet shelf waiting to be tossed or experimented with.
I was going to try one of the "color grabbers"... but havent picked it up yet, wash it alone in cold water with some woolite and the color grabber doo-hicky and let me know what happens, as that is my plan eventually.
In the future I wont buy one of those, and if I did I'm sure I would take it to the dry cleaner next time around :(

So I see you have some responses to the laundry, but scrubs can be purchased so cheap. Even Walmart carries them. Here is something I quickly pulled up, cheaper then Walmart.
