So I was 9 days late for my very regular period. I took a pregnancy test, which came out negative. Then after me and my boyfriend of 5 years were safely fooling around(we've always had safe sex using a condom, never unprotected, but I'm not on any birth control either), he noticed brown discharge coming out of my vagina. I went to the bathroom and had more brown discharge and bleeding like a period, except the bleeding was very heavy. I was wondering if I could of been pregnant but because of our fooling around session somehow triggered a miscarriage? Sounds crazy but the symptoms fit that..heavy bleeding and intense cramps. This problem is literally driving me crazy and I have no idea what to do. Thank you so much for your time to read this and anything will help! Thank you again.

So What Happened?

Thank you all so much for your responses! You all have helped me so much and have been so reassuring. I did go to the doctors to get all checked out, and he said because of all the stress I've been under it caused my period to be late. He told me a Kate period is actually a very common result when under large amounts of stress. I'm all better now, thank you all again so much for your time :)

Possible miscarriage but it wouldn't have been triggered by the activity. Brown discharge is old blood. With a miscarriage, the cramping will often be in your lower back, and you will see large clots that look different than what a normal period causes. If you think you've miscarried, it's not a bad idea to see a doctor to make sure that everything has passed.

I had a confirmed miscarriage. My doctor (who seemed to be reading my mind) told me there was NOTHING that I could have done to cause it to happen. Absolutely nothing. He gave some outrageous and humorous examples of things that could not have caused it -- like jumping off my roof, having intercourse on a motorcycle, while standing on my head. Rest assured... if it was a miscarriage, you did nothing to cause it.

If you did have a miscarriage it would have absolutely nothing to do with fooling around. A miscarriage usually occurs because of a defect with the pregnancy. So nothing would change things.

As others said if it is a miscarriage nothing you did caused it. But you should get checked, especially if cramps continue. You could have ectopic pregnancy which could cause those symptoms as well. Or it could be something completely different, but you should get checked. Hope you are feeling better today!

My advice to you would be to speak to your gynecologist. If it's a-typical for your period to be late, and if it's a-typical for you to have heavy bleeding - and if these things concern you, the best thing you can do for yourself is get checked out by your gynecologist and discuss your concerns with her/him. Your gyn is more intimately acquainted with you and your history and will be more able to answer your concerns.

From having many cysts over the years, which cause delay in period and a heavy period once it arrives. From having 5 miscarriages, some of them early, the symptoms were always severe with sweating and heavy bright red bleeding for hours thru the night. Brown is also an indication of old, something that was from days ago.

I would definitely call the OB just to let them know and see if they want to check your ovaries. I would definitely not worry about sex triggering a miscarriage. Good luck!

If you suspect you had a miscarriage call the doctor and make and appointment. I would not fool around with that. You could also have a clot or a cyst. You do not want to wind up with and infection. So call the doctor and make and appointment to go in. Feel better. I had a miscarriage and the doctor told me something was wrong with the pregnancy and it was gods way of taking care of it.
