My daughter is 21 months old. She is a good sleeper when she goes to sleep but unfortunately that is not until between 10.15pm - 11pm at night!!! I am pregnant and my husband works hard, so we sometimes get tired early and it is getting really trying having to stay awake with her.

She still naps through the day and Ive tried to keep her awake but about 4pm-5pm she falls asleep exhausted and wakes up in a couple hours revived and ready to stay awake until late.

Ive tried to wake her up early from her naps but then she just stays awake miserable until late!

Ive tried to make her have early naps and she just won't go to sleep.

Ive tried calmly laying her in bed with us earlier (9pm) and she jumps all over the bed like a lunatic for 2 hours!!

Has anyone else resolved this kind of problem?

Thanks in advance!

F.

I highly recommend the book, Good Night, Sleep Tight by Kim West. It can help you get your child on a regular sleep schedule that works for you. If you fix her naps, the rest falls into place much easier.

I am having the same issue, only my daughter is 7 months old. I have found that giving her a bath, especially with the Johnson's Bedtime Bath, around 7:30/8 pm and just letting her sit in there and splash around until she gets bored really helps. Then I put on the same kind of lotion. They have lavender and chamomile to help her relax and calm down. Also, after her bath, I give her a warm bottle, and more often than not she's alseep within the hour. This doesn't work EVERY time, but I would say 8 or 9 times out of 10 it does the trick.

Hey! My name is kim and I have a 16 month old son. My son is a great sleeper, and always has been. I keep him on a somewhat strict routine day in and day out. He wakes up, eats, and has a nap at the same time everyday ( give or take 10 minutes....no one can be that good!) I think it's really important though. The reason she's up so late is because you let her sleep too much during the day. My son only takes 1 nap a day, from 12:00-2:45 pm, and is in bed everynight @ 7:30. Try a bedtime routine. We start with a bath, then some milk and do about 15 minutes of reading each night. it calms him down and sets the mood for bed. if all else fails, just put her in her crib and leave her alone. she may scream and cry at first, but eventually she will get the idea that it's bedtime. but definatley cut out the 4:00 nap, and stick to only one in the early afternoon.

My daughter is 9 mo old and was having the same problem. A friend of mine told me absolutely no way let her sleep past 4:30. And if she sleeps at 4, keep it to a half hour. No sleeping at all past 4:30. Well, I tried it and it worked like a charm!!! She normally went to bed at about 10:00, then the first day I tried it, she went to bed at 9. Second day, 8. Now she regularly goes to sleep at 7 to 7:30. I know you said you tried something similar, but I would continue to try. It might be difficult for a couple days (she might be cranky!) but it will be worth it. I hope that this helps! Good luck!!!!!
