Labels for Towels?

I've used a Sharpie marker in black -- the ink does not wash out.. My daughter is 20 and I still have some of her towels I marked with a Sharpie from preschool through summer camps.

Another option is embroidered initials or name somewhere obvious.

I have not personally used their iron on labels, but I use their stick on labels regularly, including on clothing. If there's a tag on it, I stick a label on it. Definitely Mabel's Labels! I have just used their sticker ones (not iron on). I put them on the tags, but on tagless shirts I've even just stuck them onto the fabric. They really stick! Even with multiple washings I've never had a label fall off. They are a little spendy, but I rarely have to replace a label. If I do it is usually because someone pulled it off.

Select conspicuous towels. They are less likely to get mislaid. A set of 8 bath sized towels with meteorologist Al Roker are not likely to get mislaid or confused for anyone elses.

Mabel's labels. Iron on. I would put them on the labels for the towel so it shouldn't be a problem with the terry.

i embroider so i would hand embroider the names on. is there a sewing center near you that can machine embroider then names on for you?

Another vote for Mabel's Labels. They are amazing!

For camp use I just wrote names on the manufacturer's labels with a Sharpie. We use eye-blinding bright yellow beach towels when we go to crowded public areas, so there is no misplacing or mistaking our towels!

I would not mess with stand-alone labels. Your gift idea is one of those "means well" things that sounds better in theory than in practice.

Labels do not make good gifts because at the very least you're creating work for someone, because they have to afffix them all. Additionally, they often look conspicuous or can damage the item.

Years ago, when my oldest kids were in preschool, they had a splash pad so we sent towels with them. I had the iron on labels and they stayed on (we still have the towels as old pool towels and the labels are still on). Now, these are cheapie towels - not thick lofty ones. These are the kind that are very thin and not fluffy - so not sure if that makes a difference.

I have used sew on labels and found those to be a pain (not on towels mind you). I can't sew worth beans though so perhaps it was my technique - but for me, they frayed along the edges where I sewed, and looked terrible not long after they were washed.

I cannot remember where I purchased them, but it was online. It was the kind you could write on (didn't come monogramed).

Go with the sew on, the iron on ones fall off after a few washes.

I had them for all my daughters stuff before we homeschooled.

I don't remember where I got them but I did find them online and had them made (first and last name), they were not very expensive.

I use a black sharpie and write that person's initials on their items. Every single item.

This doesn't help but we use beach towels for the camps with different prints so everyone knows which one is theirs. Good luck.
