Alright I am packing for Mexico,a nd realize I have no black sandals for my 19 month old!!! AHHH So I have been a crazy mad women on the hunt for plain black flip flops. Do you think I could find any though! So I was on zappos and seen they have these cute reef ones but there is no back strap. Kinda thinking this is not an option for him, but what about my almost 4 yr old? Can your kiddos wear non backstrap flip flops?

Also has anyone bought quicksilver flip flops for their kiddos? the size is 3/4, 5/6, 7/8 9/10 well my youngest is in a 4 right now and my oldest a 8 so how do they run size wise?

What can I do next?

I am not a Crocs person, but I would stick with the flip flops with the back strap. Old Navey, Target, Gap all have them. They make reef with back straps too.

what about water socks/ shoes? They are easy to slip on and off and feet also don't get as hot as sneakers. Plus they are alot easier to walk in vs flip flops. Back strap is a must with younger kiddo's.. atleast mine any ways.

I know I seen some at wal mart a few weeks ago.. as my son picked out some transformer ones.

At 19 months he will have a hard time with flip flops, even with a strap he will likely be stubbing his toes all over the place, not to mention getting blisters. I'd go with Crocs for both kids. They are easy to wear, breathable, rinsable, and we haven't ever had trouble with blisters from the name-brand ones (although I got cheap knock-offs once and they tore up my son's feet).

I would be cautious not to introduce a new kind of shoe on vacation. Blisters between the toes or on the top of the foot (from straps) can be painful when mixed with sand and saltwater! You want to have fun, not worry about their foot issues or them being unable to walk comfortably. That's why I'd go with Crocs -- not flip flops.

Just a thought. Have a GREAT trip!

for my daycare, I always request a sturdy sandal...with backstraps.

personally, water shoes work best for on & around the water. :)

I agree with Michelle. Go with Crocs. Easy peasy.

I'd go w/ Tevas (which can get wet and are great for hiking around rocks, etc) w/ the back straps. They always have a huge selection on Ebay.

My almost 6 year old son can't wear flip flops without backs and not fall, trip or walk out of them. Our Target had the flip flops with backs last night - but I'm in Ft. Lauderdale so maybe we get them earlier here. You can look at them on the website. Also, maybe "beach socks" would be better for your 19 month old. I have an 18 month old and can't imagine him being able to walk in flip flops! Have a great trip to Mexico and stay safe!

You should consider getting him Tevas or Keens; both are very durable and safe for his little feet.

Check out Zappos -- you can order a bunch of shoes, and then box the ones you don't want and send them back for free. We do that often, it's like having a shoe store in our living room. Zappos is also great because the search engine works really well to find exactly what you want. You can read the reviews, which is nice, and they often send you your order in 24 hours (shipping is always free).

19 month old.. Get the back strap.. they like to run, jump twist.. You do not want to be dealing with shoes falling off or getting lost the entire trip.

I am a Merrell sandal snob for my little ones. They are supportive, comfortable, rubber-soled and washable. Can't say enough good things about them - every May I buy new pair for each boy (they have girls too)!
