What type of sandals do you like best for long distance walking that give you good support and don't hurt or blister your feet? I bought some great Asics tennis shoes, but want to get some sandals as well. I need to get them soon so I can break them in! I appreciate your help!

Orlando theme park veteran here . . . I would never, I repeat NEVER wear sandals to WDW.

I wear hard-core, worn-in running shoes with good socks, meant to go the distance. It is a ton of walking, and in the heat the blisters can be fierce. I don't care how geeky I look. I pay good $$$$ to get into those parks, and I'm not about to ruin the experience by being physically miserable.

Good luck and have a great time.

I got a cute pair at DSW a few weeks ago by Merrill. They are very comfortable.

The Yellow Box brand is supposed to be comfy too but I don't have those.

Great idea to have more than one type of shoe, because changing them is very helpful. Wear the tennis shoes during the day with cushy socks, to prevent sun burns and blisters. And toss an extra pair of socks in your backpack to change during the day or after a water ride. Whatever sandals you pick will be a cool relief for night time activites and something to wear to the pools. Have a ball!

My live in sandles are by Jambu http://www.rei.com/product/828912/jambu-planet-shoes-womens

Yes, they are expensive but they are so insanely worth it! They go on sale for good prices.

The one thing I can't recommend enough is to get something with closed toes. Seriously! You will be glad your toes are protected! Between crowds stepping on them, strollers bumping on them or getting them caught on things going on and off attractions you will be thankful that you got something that protects your toes.
We are Disneyland veterans. Disney World is on our some day list. I won't let my kids wear something that is open toes either. Too dangerous.

I have a really comfortable pair of Sketchers sandals. I could walk in them all day. Just make sure you find a pair with the strap around the back of your ankle. Mine do not have the piece between the toes, I think that makes them more comfortable. As long as you find a pair that fit well and give good support you will be fine walking around the parks and I don’t know of any rides there that will make you take them off.

Don't forget to put sunscreen on your feet, you don’t want to get a sunburn.

Crocks are way comfortable and they actually sell them in disney. They also sell these little pieces to decorate the crocks. Anythiing flat and your feet will be killing you for ages.

I have a pair of Tevas. They are not these exactly but pretty close. I wear them to walk and I am fairly sure I have worn them to Disney. Otherwise, I would wear sneakers. But these are more comfortable (and cooler) than my sneakers. They do go on sale - I think I got mine at Dicks for $30.

I buy my sandals handmade from a leather crafter in Australia. I've had two pairs that have lasted me over 10 years now. I love the way they look (particularly the 'hippie' style). I remember I took mine on my honeymoon in the remote tropics and they tramped through streams and mud and were fantastic. The website is www.awlleather.com.au.

Keen are my favorite sandals. They are very comfortable and give great support. They may be more expensive, but they will last you for years! My kids also have them. They are great for running around and protect their toes when they're doing something like bike or scooter riding.

I wore Dansko sandals to WDW, and my feet felt fine after two days of heavy walking and even some baby-wearing.

I recently bought some Crocs A-Leigh sandals. They are super cute and have leather uppers. I wear these when I walk my daughter to and from school (almost a mile each way--I push a double stroller too), and my feet are very comfortable in them.

Good luck to you. You'll look so much better in your pictures if you're wearing nice sandals ;-)

We just got back from Disneyland and I wore my Asics tennis shoes. Just make sure you take mole skin for any blisters you might get. I was sooooo glad that I had some. Have fun!

If it rains, I like having sneakers on so my feet stay dry. I wear the sandals at night when I know the rain has passed.

We went in May a few years ago and it was 90+ degrees, humid and very hot. I wore comfortable flip-flops... and I got sunburn on my feet.

Have fun there !
PS A hat or visor is a gd idea, too. Esp if you plan being outside the entire day. **I bring sunglasses, too.

I buy mine at Walmart called Earth Spirit. They run about $20. They have cushioned soles and so comfortable for long walking. Some have elastic straps around around the back, some are slide ons, some are straps all over and more leather. I have a ton of people see my sandals and yell, "OMG, I love those! I have those too and are SO comfortable!" I've worn them for years and love them. Go check them out!

TEVA or Naot-Wore TEVAs across Canada, Alaska and the upper U.S.
Wore them for five weeks, not a blister nothing. Sneakers just do not cut it
because they get too hot in the Florida sun. Now my TEVAs go to Disney
with me.

Sketchers has a GREAT line of fashionable flip-flops - thick, foamy, comfortable, durable - you can't even tell you are wearing them. One of my black pairs are bejeweled, and it looks like the straps on my brown ones are made out of glitter. Looks can be deceiving - they are indestructable. I have walked all over New Orleans, San Antonio and Austin in them, not to mention all the trekking I do around Houston. I'd rather wear them than my tennis shoes!

I have 3 pairs and purchased them either at Academy or Kohl's between $19 - $35. Not sure where else they are sold.

Yellow box all the way. I wore them to sea world last year and to six flags twice this year. We are going to Disney in August and I will be buying a new pair.

Tevas are great, and I've heard good things about Keens as well. Please take the advice of another poster and buy something with a closed toe! We go to Disney World at least once a year and stay for 1-2 weeks, and it is not a place for flip flops or cute strappy sandals (and no one's going to be looking at your feet in your pictures!). My Tevas have a closed toe and are waterproof, so I don't have to worry about them getting wet on water rides. Oh, and don't forget the moleskin (as someone else mentioned). I've gotten blisters from shoes at Disney World that I've been wearing for months, but the moleskin works wonders.

try earth spirit shoes. They have a few styles at walmart that you can try on and see if you like them. They are not the most fashionable, but there are more to choose from online. When i tried on pair i thought I stepped onto a cloud!
