Have you ever let your family friends in your empty house by keeping keys at other friends? We have done this before and i was not comfortable with it at all. DH wants to do that again with some other friends who are flying here from another country and might stay with us for a couple days before driving back to their home some 6 hours away from here. Yes we would love to help them with their weird ticket arrangments but i just don't feel comfortable doing this.
ETA: By not home i meant in the office till late :). i guess i am not comfortable with the idea of finding someone in my house before me! which happened last time and I didn't have time to clean up! They are group friends however not too close.

What can I do next?

Yes, I did it for my friend and her husband about 8 years ago. They wanted to visit Chicago, but I was going home to the Twin Cities, so they picked up a key from my parents in MN and came to IL. When I returned a few days later my friend had a vase of flowers and had prepared & frozen a lasagna for me, but otherwise left no trace.

It totally depends on the specific friends, but her, I would do it again and again.

It depends on the friends (or family). I have let my mom stay at our house in PA. It's like a mini vacation for her to get away from my stepfather, lol. I have never had friends ask to stay at either of our houses, but my neighbor here in Florida has a spare key to our home for emergency.

I have done this.
If they were people I know and trust, I wouldn't have an issue.....

If you're not comfortable, don't do it.

However, as a person who stays at other people's houses, I must say, it is truly a blessing for ME - AND for them. I have stayed with a couple's kids and also a family's dog while they are gone for a couple of weeks on vacation. They have a code on their garage door so they don't have to leave keys. It's easier for me since they have an alarm system.

I generally do some deep cleaning and have a nice meal for them when they return. I guess it all depends on who it is and what your relationship is with them.

Yes, I would be comfortable and have done that quite a bit. We host quite a few ppl in the ministry we are in, many of them are complete strangers. I love to have the opportunity to bless others.

I don't quite understand...you won't be home?

If you are gone traveling and a friend needs a place to stay for a layover I would think if they were a good friend it would be no issue.

I do have things I would not like anyone else to come across so if I were letting someone stay in my home I would get a trunk of some sort or a big suitcase that fits under the bed or in the back of the closet and lock those things up.
