he will be eating more solid food by now but there is no correct answer for that question every child is different but he should be eating at least 3 meals a day with a few bottles if your child is really small you might want to see a Dr or give a good vitamin

From what I remember from when my girls were little, starting @ 4-6 months they recomend that you introduce baby cereal/oatmeal, and also vegetables and fruits. A breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also will continue having thier breast milk or formula along with these foods.
Another thing you can try are cheerios. (No she won't choke)

We just went to our nine month check up...I asked this question to the doc. She said on the low side 20 to 24 but it will change as they get closer to one. By the time they are one it will be more like 16 oz.

Hope this helps.

Follow your child's lead on this. Introduce solids slowly, when she starts indicating that formula is not enough. If you get all weird about food and feeding, your baby will sense it. And if you're strict about amounts and times, she may develop poor eating habits that become problematic for both you and her later. Possibly giving her food/eating issues when she's older.

Hi K.
Your little one should probably have 4/5 bottles a day at 8 oz and should be eating 3 meals daily- cereal and fruit for breakfast with juice, one or two vegs plus some meat and dessert at lunch then a bottle, then cereal and fruit at nite......but if you let your little one eat finger foods or soft table food at dinner that is ok too. He/she will eat until full then probably refuse more- let him/her let you know when full.
good luck and blessings

Hi K.! I have a nine month old myself. He eats about 4 to 5 bottles with cereal in them at 4 ounces each in a 24 hour period. He has 3 meals a day and about 3 to 4 snacks a day depending on how the day is going. He eats off of my plate at dinner time, if it's been a bit since he has ate. I let him snack on puffs (which he loves), ritz crackers. Or i give him fruit or if I'm snacking on something that he can have I share with him.

I have a 7 mo old and here is my schedule with him - wake up 8 oz bottle; 1-2 hrs later has 2-3 tbsp of cereal with jar of stage 2 fruit & might drink a couple of oz of milk; a.m. nap drinks a few more oz of formula; lunch 1 jar of stage 2 fruit and 1 jar of a vege or mixed vege/meat & a couple of oz of formula; p.m.nap 4-6 oz; wakes up may give another bottle that he will take a couple of oz of until dinner, it depends on what time it is; dinner is same as lunch; 6-8 oz before bed. If you add up on the low end of what he drinks through the day it is about 30 oz of formula give or take a couple of oz. Sometimes I feel like he is eating too much, but that is what he wants. He is still opening his mouth after the last bites of the jar food. I was doing half jars, but he was waking up through the night and a friend said he is probably hungry, so I started feeding him the 2 jars and solved that problem.

I know all kids are different, but now I'm starting to think I'm not feeding my little guy enough! My son is 9 months as well. A typical day for us: Nurse when he wakes up, then about an hour later one jar of fruit. He nurses about an hour and a half later before the morning nap (which is normally only 45 minutes??). Lunch time is a veggie and sometimes half a jar of fruit. Nurse before the afternoon nap. Dinner is 1/4 cup of cereal mixed with breast milk/formula plus a veggie and whatever is left from the morning/noon fruit. Throw in some cheerios during the day... then another nursing session before bed.

In sum, my guy nurses 4-5 times a day. 1/4C cereal and approximately 3 jars of food a day.

I wish kids came with instruction manuals! I'm looking forward to reading the other responses too!
