My neice calls her one grandpa Poppy. Which I think is cute. My cousins kids all call her mom (my aunt) honey. Which says it all about her! :)

We call my parents "abue" and "buelo". Spanish for grandparents is "abuelo(a)" so we have shortened it.

The only grandparent we really knew and hung around much was my maternal grandmother whom we called Granny Last Name as you describe. But it became so second nature that it eventually morphed into one word and became Granlevy.

I've seen many families that adopt the name the youngest child can say. So, nicknames form "from the mouths of babes" and end up being really adorable. One of my best friends' mom's name as Winnie (short for Winifred) but the youngest couldn't quite get it right and everyone - friends and all - ended up calling her Ninny.

My grandson calls me "mom-mom" (I'm "mom" to HIS Mom - so he follows her lead) and he calls my husband "bapa". We LOVE our grandparent names.

My sister's kids called my Dad "paha", which started out as the toddler way of saying grandpa, but it stuck until he died.

One side of my family calls the grandparents Nana and PopPop to distinguish from Grandma and Grandpa. The more "formal" side of the family got those names, and the informals got Nana etc. Some people use names depending on ethnic background - Italians use Nonni, Greeks use Yahyah, Jews use Bubbe for grandmothers. Jews use Zayde for Grandpa. My neighbors use something in Polish - I'm not sure exactly how to pronounce them. So maybe some of those would work. It's really easy for the kids to keep their grandparents straight that way!

My mom asked to be called "Omi" (pronounced Ohme), which is German. The formal word for grandmother in German is "Oma".

My daughter calls my stepdad and real dad Bumpa, cuz she still can't say Grandpa. She also called my mom 'MeMe'...but everytime my daughter would say it...my mom would tell her no, I don't like that, don't call me that ... it's Grandma, not MeMe. So, my daughter stopped calling her anything and refuses to attempt the word Grandma. I think it's funny lol.

My nephews and my daughter called my grandpa (their great) Poppa...even tho he passed away, my daughter still asks where Poppa is. My stepdads mom, they call Grandma Great, cuz shes the kids' (step) great grandma. Theres other choice words I would like to call her, but I stick with her first name :)

My mom wanted to be called "Lola" (we don't have a drop of Phillipines in our blood) and I put my foot down due to Lola being too close to a stripper name. She has decided on "gee gee" to make it easier for my daughter to differenate between her and my husband's mother.

I heard a story years ago. A woman told this of her very formal sister, who hated the name "Grandma" so she tried to get her toddler granddaughter to give her a different name. Unfortunately, all that little girl could say was Dodo. Guess who got stuck with Dodo till the day she died!

we have GG for great grandma
Grammy for other great grandma
Nanna for Grandma
poppy for Grandpa
Grandma +her first name for grandma
Papa for grandpa
My great grandparents, they rarely saw but were just grandpa + last name and grandmother.
ma could also be used.

some other grandpa names if you need more.. Grandpop, pop-pop, pawpaw, pa, grandfather,

Every grandparent had different names with our kids and worked out well so when we talk and tell stories they don't have to ask which grandparent we are talking about.

my husband and I have a 2 year old grandson. We didn't want to be called something silly that would carry on for the rest of our grandson's life, so we are called Oma and Opa. That is both German and Korean for grandma and grandpa. It is the cutest thing now because that is what he calls us.

Just a suggestion.

We live in Missouri as does my husbands family. Our kids call them Nana and Pepaw. My Parents live in Ohio, my Mom is Grammy, my Dad is Grandpa and his wife is Grandma Chris (Christine). Having the different names helps them to differentiate since we are so far away. My Grandma (their Great-Grandma) has always been Nina to myself and all of my cousins and 2nd cousins, my Great-Grandma was Nana. I'd like to add my husbands Grandpa, our kids call him G-Pa, (Great Grandpa) Our 3yo came up with that on his own and it has stuck.
