Hello Ladies, another question for you;
My 12 year old daughter was nominated by one of her teachers to attend a Junior National Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C. We received the official invitation today. I've checked them out and they are legitimate, though a bit pricey, but that's not my question. My question is whether any of you have actually sent your children to this, how you would rate this program and whether you would recommend it. Okay, that's three questions, but I would appreciate any feedback on this.
Thanks a lot.

I attended the National Young Leaders Conference, not Junior, when I was 18 and had just graduated high school. I remember it was expensive and had a lot of fun. The only reason I convinced my single mother to afford this trip, is that is looks great on college applications. I do not really remember gaining any profound knowledge from the conference. But again, this was over 15 years ago, man I am getting old!
Good Luck!

The one thing I would look at is who is really making money off this. If you question the cost involved then this could be a way for an organization to raise money and they could care less about the kids.
Also, after reading one parents feed back, there is no way my child would go.
But if you decide to send them the one rule I have for my children no matter the age is that they are to never go off alone with any adult (minister, teacher etc.)make sure you take along another child with you. This is to protect them from sex offenders.

Our school sends four every year(the parents still pay, but the middle school faculty votes on the attendees) and they all find it worthwhile. Congratulations to your daughter!

My son and several of his friends got these invitations as well. We did not send him- DH did some research online and was not happy with what he read from some of the kids that attended- but one of his friends went. His friend said is was boring. They were in meetings all day and the schedule was quite strict. This is only the second year for the middle school aged kids. We also got an invitation for the state conference as well and are going to pass. There are other programs out there that are better and cheaper.
