Jogging Strollers

I have a City Series stroller that I love! It is very easy to push and maneuver. It is a bit heavy to just fold up and go somewhere, but worth it in comfort for my daughter and ease of maneuvering.

We bought a jogger made by Baby Jogger (it's the city series) and we just LOVE it!! It has been fabulous for us in stores, at the beach, traveling on a place, and especially just walking around the neighbordhood. I would highly recommend it to anyone!!!

Also, we have the evenflo triumph car seat (actually, we have two - one for each car) and it has been great. I looked on the consumer reports website before we bought a convertable car seat and it was only like, one point behind the Britax but was significantly less expensive.

I have a double Baby Jogger City Series and it's phenomal! I use it for practically everything, it's got great steering and managability. It's a little heavy but worth it! Many of my friends have the BOB Revolution and swear by it. Both are pricey but good investments. I also have both the Britax Marathon and Evenflo car seats, and they're terrific- the Britax is pricier. I've heard the Cosco car seats have similar safety ratings to the Britax. Good luck!

I'd recommend the book Baby Bargains, by Denise and Alan Fields. They update it every year or two and are current on all products, safety, reviews, prices, etc.... It's very user friendly, and they go so far as to suggest certain products/brands that might be best for your lifestyle and where you live. They also have a website that's updated regularly with new information, product recalls, parent reviews, etc... Lots of valuable information!

I started jogging daily with my daughter when she was about 1.5 yrs. old and purchased a Schwinn - something like this one (but not from this site) http://www.ababyoutlets.com/schwinn_2007_free_runner_st_s... It was pink, fixed wheels w/16" wheels. I paid around $150 and I LOVE IT!! We use it everyday. I do not have any complaints really. The only complaint would be sunshield that goes over her head can be a bit bigger w/some type of overhang to keep the sun off her. Other than that we really love it. If you are strickly using it for jogging it's best to go a fixed wheel (which is safer than a whell that turns) and no smaller than 16". If you plan on using it around the city, in malls mostly I do not suggest a 16" fixed wheel. I would suggest going w/ a wheel that turns and there would be no need for a 16". I did a lot of research on this and found that Schwinn was the best bang for your money.

As for the car seat. I personally would not use anything else than Britax. But that is just me. They are the best and the safest around.

I just put my 7 month old baby boy in the Evenflo carseat and he loves it. Its so soft and comfy. I used it with my older son but the only thing is once my son hit 30lbs it was to small. Good Luck .

I don't know much about the jogging strollers but I love the Britax marathon car seat. We have one for each care and recently when my daughter outgrew her infant carrier we bought our son the Britax regent - it can keep him in a 5 point harness until he is 80 pounds. Britax has a reputation for safety. I would suggest going with a larger seat if your car can fit it.
When we were deciding what to do as my daughter was outgrowing the infant carrier we purchased a brand new Britax - it has not bee opened but after changing our mind we no longer need it. If you are interested we spent $200 and we are looking to sell it. Feel free to contact me. ____@____.com!

My son is 9 months old and we have him in the britax roundabout. It's been fine. no problems. It is pricier than the Evenflo but in the babybargains book it had a great rating. Hope that helps. I too am looking for a jogging stroller and I saw that Costco online has a couple of Schwinn's to choose from. I think it was 150 dollars. I noticed a Mom who responded earlier to your question said that Schwinn was the best per her research.

Sorry, can't help you with the jogging stroller except have you checked Consumer Reports? You can subscribe to their website at consumerreports.org. But, there has been a recall on the Evenflo Discovery car seats. Please be careful when buying. I have the Graco SnugRide and love it. Had a good rating when we purchased 2 years ago.

Dreamer Design makes a great lightweight jogger that folds in half so you can put it in your trunk. Works wonderfully on sand as well. As for carseats I am a Britax girl. I have been with all three kids. They are costly but they are also vastly superior in quality to everything else out there. I put no price on the life of the safety of my child. When you get to booster seats for older children then you have more flexibility.

I have the Evenflo Triumph Advance Premier and I love it. my daughter is 9 months old snd is very comfortable in it and has plenty of room for growing. It is very easy to use and it is even easy to use when it is rear facing. i compaired it side by side with the Britax and the only real differences I found were the patterns and the price. I acutally found that the Evenflo was more comfortable. I made my 4 year test them out. She was more comfortable in the Evenflo. the evenflo seat seems to be a little deeper. My 9 month old in on the chubby side and she is not squished in the seat. (I have heard a lot of complaints about the shoulder straps of the Britax being uncomfortable on the baby's neck)

I have a Dreamer Design jogging stroller. It has a pretty decent folding size in order to fit in the back of my Rav-4 and the wheels are removeable without tools which helps if you want to get it totally flat. When I purchased mine, I was able to get a free front swivel wheel kit. I normally just use mine for running in the neighborhood or park. It has a very smooth ride and good weight limit so it will last well into the toddler years.

Have you tried looking on Craigs List for a jogging stroller? We have the Evenflow carseat for our almost 2 year old son, after a lot of research we decided on that one, one major factor for us was the fact that the middle strap(the one that goes between the legs) was longer than most and with a little boy who is off the charts for height and weight, his comfortness is must:) I am sure that we will be buying another Evenflow for our 8 month old daughter!

Sorry, can't recommend a jogging stroller (I'm lazy). But we just bought the Evenflo Triumph car seat. We were hoping our son would make it to his 1st birthday in the infant carrier, but we just couldn't fit the straps over his winter coat anymore. When we first took the evenflo out of the box, I thought that it was so easy to adjust the straps with the little levers on the side of the seat. My only complaint is that he still needs to be rear facing and the little levers are right up against the seat of the car which makes it a bit more difficult to adjust. Other than that, no complaints. My husband says it feels so soft and cushiony that HE wants to sit in it!
Also, since we needed the carseat for both of our cars, we bought one in December and one in February because I waited to get coupons in the mail from BRU. (I think they were $10 off all carseats). Best of luck to you!

I don't have advice about a jogging stroller, we have a Burley bike trailer that converts to a jogging stroller but I haven't used it as such

We do have an Evenflo Triumph and really like it. I can't think of too many drawbacks to it other than it is kind of heavy. I love the way the straps adjust. Both my kids have used the seat... my oldest just turned four and it is still in great shape.

Hi, I saw your note and thought maybe I could help. I just spent hours looking into jogging strollers. I am not a runner, but want something to speed walk or maybe jog behind. I fell in love with the BoB revolution (except for the price!) http://www.bobgear.com/strollers/stroller.php?product_id=6 If you can afford it...go for it, I am sure you will love it! I decided to start with the Schwinn swivel wheel. Here is where I found it the cheapest. Even cheaper than Wal-mart! http://primetimebaby.com/jogging-strollers-schwinn-swivel... After reading and reading, I wanted these things in a stroller:
1. 16 inch wheels for easy pushing
2. Shocks
3. Well sized sun shade (the schwinn includes a rain/wind shield zipped into the sun shade) I think I am going to love that!
4. Locking/unlocking front wheel. The locking front wheel is important for jogging, it is safer. If you hit a rock or something with the swivel wheel, it can cause you to crash.
5. Child tray (not so important, but would be nice for non- jogging trips)

I am waiting for my Schwinn stroller to arrive, I just ordered it 2 days ago! I justified buying the cheaper one for now, not that $180 is all that cheap, but if I really use it as much as I plan to, then maybe I can justify spending the money on the BoB stroller later. My son is only 12 weeks old, so I wont be doing anything more than fast walkig this summer anyways (for his safety). They do mention in several different places about waiting 6 months or so before running with a baby in the stroller. But you are already there. Oh, I did look at the Jeep stroller at BabiesRus, it has 3 12inch wheels. I had my 46lb 5 year old sit in it. It felt very top heavy, like it would easily tip. They don't recommend this stroller for jogging anyways. You need the bigger wheels. Enjoy!

I forgot to mention, you want an aluminum frame. It will be lighter and wont rust. Also you want real air tires. I hope this all helps!

Consumer Reports puts out a book which rates and reviews all sorts of baby products. You can also find the same infor. on line.
As far as joggers go, we have a double jogger by Baby Trend. I believe they make it in a single stroller, too. The thing to look for is the swivel wheel in the front. We have another jogger that is a Reebok and is hard to maneuver around turns because it lacks this wheel.
Both of my boys have Eddie Bauer car seat. So far, great luck with them...no recalls. It just depends on what you are looking for.

My first jogging stroller was inexpensive. I wanted to make sure that I was going to actually use it. I loved the idea of a jogger, but wasn't sure I would do it. So I went to Babies R Us and got one for around $120. It was perfectly fine. I think it was one from In-Step. I wasn't training for the Olympics or anything, so I didn't mind about the extra weight. In fact I liked that my stroller was heavier, I felt like I was getting more from my 30 min job by pushing extra weight!!

When I had #2, my husband bought me the Bob Ironman Duallie. I LOVE that stroller, it is amazing. But it is a $500 stroller.

I think you can go out and just buy an inexpensive stroller off the shelf. Just look for larger wheels (easier to push). And if the front wheel can swivel, make sure it has a locking mechanism to lock it straight. Swiveling front wheels while you are running aren't always good.

I have an evenflo triumph deluxe car seat and love it. My friends have the britax and like them but complain about the straps are hard to adjust for different clothing and jackets. The evenflo is very easy to adjust straps on the side of the seat. I would recommend the evenflo to anyone. I also have a Jeep Liberty all terrain stroller. The difference is the front wheel for it to be an all terrain. The front wheel in a jogging stroller is locked. This makes it easier for jogging but is very hard to steer in other spaces. The all terrian has a loose front wheel so you can use it all the time and you have the option of locking it in place. Another option of the one I got that I love is you can connect an mp3 player to it and it has speaker. So you can play music for your baby or yourself. My son likes the steering wheel and horn that it has too. I purchased mine at Babies R Us and was about $140.00.

I am also looking for a jogging stroller, so I will update you with info if it's different than on here.

I have a Britax Roundabout, and it was $200. It was alot to spend as a single mom with little help, but I am so glad I did. I love it. I think it is so easy to use, and they come in many different fabrics for no extra cost, so I got a cute girly one for my car :) We used the Graco SnugRide and I had thought that was SO easy to use. The Roundabout is even easier! I have a fairly small car, and it isn't too bulky; can still fit two other people on either side of it.

Her dad rarely has her, so he spent about $80 on his seat. I think it is a Graco. He says it is hard to use as far as buckling and tightening straps and other minimal issues, but I have never actually used it so I can't say.

The BOB Revolution is a great stroller. The only negatives are that it costs $379 and is a little on the bigger side when unfolded, but it turns on a dime, is easy to steer with one hand, has a huge canopy, holds a child up to 70 lbs. and folds up relatively small so it can easily fit in the trunk of any car. Britax car seats are good, if you get the one that goes up to 65 lbs. you won't have to buy another one for a while.

First thing you should know is it's best to wait until ONE year of age to start jogging. By age 1 they have the head support and internal growth to handle all the jostling and bouncing - same reasoning as why we don't turn babies forward-facing until age 1 (although rear-facing longer is infinitely safer).

BOB makes very good ones, but if you look on craigslist (craigslist.org) you can usually find some cheap used joggers.

While I swear by my Britax Roundabout, my father has the Eddie Bauer one and he loves it he found research that said it's safe. We also have the yellow and black Evenflo one in my husband's car, and that one had good write-ups, too.

As for a jogging stroller, Schwinn makes a good one with a swivel wheel that's not too costly. Google it.
