Jogging Stroller - Is This Normal?

I just got a used jogging stroller -- I think it was made around 2006 and it is a Jeep model. I used it last night and I had a hard time turning with it. It seems like the front wheel is stationary. I couldn't figure out how to maneuver it around tight corners without swinging way out into the road or actually tipping it back and pivoting it, which would not really work if I were actually jogging. Just wondering if this is typical and how to get around it. Or maybe I'm missing something? Thanks!

What can I do next?

Oh - that would be awful! Either you have the front wheel locked (look for a little lever, or bar to pull on the wheel mount, or knob) OR you got a jogging stroller that really isn't for jogging. I hope it's just that the wheel is locked. good luck!

Most jogging strollers that age have a stationary front wheel. You just need to lift up the front wheel when you turn it. (Like doing a wheelie)

I bought a jogging stroller on Craigslist for my grand daughter so I could take her waking in the mall every morning. (Im tall and the handles are higher than most regular strollers).. It had a stationary front wheel and after the first 2 days my shoulders were so sore from tipping it back to make the corners I had to stop using it. I kept looking on Craigslist and found a Jeep brand with a front swivel wheel and bought it. Its great! Turns on a dime, easy to steer. You might look for one and see the difference. Im still using mine and shes 4 yrs old tomorrow.

I don't have a Jeep stroller, I have a BOB, but the front wheel can lock, and it sounds like it may be locked? On mine, there's a little red knob thing that you have to move to the right to unlock it. Hope that helps if yours has a similar mechanism!

Yep, that is how mine is, the front wheel does not swivel. You have to tip and turn to make a turn. I do actually run with it and find that it works great. I can hold on to the stroller with one hand without having it go every which way while running and only need both hands when turning. I guess this only works well if you run on the street or a reasonably straight path and you would need a front swivel wheel to run trails.
Good luck.

Yes, this is how mine worked. You need to tip it up and swing it over.

The ones without the pivoting front wheel are for jogging basic strait lines with minimal turns, the ones with a pivoting from wheel are good for uneven terrain with turns. I have one that does not pivot, its been with me 7 years, through two kids with a walking --rollerblading habit of roughly 200 days out of every year(maybe more), Yes it takes awhile to get used to, you have to tip it and turn it, but soon it will be little to no effort. You will get used to it. From what ive read the pivoting wheels one turn and lock at high speeds and are dangerous.

I have a Mountian Buggy (2006) and the front wheel locks for taking it on trails. It has a little black knob w/ a (very small) locked/not locked option on the front tire. Not sure about Jeep ... maybe you could google the stroller and get the booklet.

I had a Jeep one as well and the front wheel could lock and unlock. Mine had a red lever in the front. Look around for it. It should unlock so you are able to run with it and turn corners. Then lock it when you are going over rough terrain and it helps to keep it sturdy. Good luck!
